I looked through Monoprice's website and didn't find any USB C hubs cheaper than $18, other than a strictly-USB A hub. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

From my experience, Monoprice has had some major issues with faulty USB peripherals lately. I've had multiple PD chargers die and/or have inconsistent charge connection and customer service hasn't been very helpful. I've been a longtime fan but pretty weary as of late. Now my camp stove from them is being recalled for it's insulating liner spontaneously combusting...

Agree bout Monoprice slipping lately. Having an issue with them not crediting my account due to an out of stock item for about a month now. This even after a few email conversations where they assured it was in process. "Weary" is a great description, not bad enough to quit them but it's a concern.

4K30? I get they are trying to make as cheap as possible, but can we start releasing these devices with better than HDMI 1.4? HDMI 2.0 came out 10 years ago and that itself is becoming outdated.

I ordered this one last year, the built-in USB-C cable broke. Got a replacement, cable broke again. Before that happened powering it by USB-C PD would cause it to disconnect randomly every few minutes and then reconnect. Copying a large file to a SD card? Expect it to fail half way through. Also it would get very hot to the touch. I do not recommend at any price.

ESR is not rando. It's a pretty big brand name in accessories all over Asia.
