These are great watches for this price. I have a regular 6 sapphire and love it. Had it for almost 6 months and no complaints. Buttons over a touchscreen is a great design, especially if you plan on doing anything active. It still gets regular updates from Garmin and the phone and PC apps work great. My only complaint is the charging cable is short. But I snagged a set of two for under ten bucks so that problem was an easy fix.

The band it comes with is incredibly comfortable but I do recommend snagging some aftermarket bands or straps off AliExpress or some other Chinese direct manufacturer if you want to add a little pizzazz to it.

Glass type depends on your usage. I use mine for boating and Gorilla Glass is better for me. Saphire is harder but more brittle and having a high polish, is overly glarey on the water. Gorilla glass is still very hard and is tougher. It holds up better to more day to day knocking around which is inherent in boating. Sunlight and reflection off the water can be brutal . The lower polish on the Gorilla Glass makes it easier to read in the bright sunlight. Also, all the movement on a boat makes a touch screen very difficult to use making push button the wise choice. Just because saphire is more expensive and considered an upgrade, glass choice really depends on your intended usage.

Probably will look big on most wrists. Wish they had the regular Fenix or the Fenix S
I'm a 6 foot tall guy and I completely agree. I thought the 6x was too big for me and am happy with the regular 6 size.

I have a fitbit Inspire 3 I got pretty much for free using a $100 Google credit promo from a phone purchase. It seems to do sleep tracking, steps, oxygen and reminders to get up periodically pretty well. Not sure yet how accurate HR monitor is.

Just wondering if this Garmin Fenix 6x Sapphire will be 3x better. Also, if waiting for Garmin 955 or Fenix 7x is worth it.

Once I got my garmin watch, I was so thankful in comparison to my mi bands that I kept losing because of the poor design. The phone software is like night and day too.

I'm 5'7" and have had the 6X Sapphire for about a year, I love it, not having to charge daily and all the data you get is amazing. Coming from an Apple Watch Series 6 I would never go back. The only issue I have had is with Bluetooth not staying connected to my iPhone so if you want updates on your watch I recommend syncing with the Garmin app daily. This is the best price I have seen on this watch ever. I am a very happy customer.

I have the 6X Pro and highly recommend it for MTB, running and hiking (the activities I use it for). Heart-rate, pace, distance, etc are all accurate. Don't know why some are down-voting this as it is a good price.
Because it's not the latest latest model. For them the $400 price difference doesn't matter. Happens every time.

I bought this for a little bit more than this last year. I was completely happy with my 5X but the price was low enough to make the upgrade worth it. My 5X held decent value so I think my out of pocket was only around $100. I don't think the incremental changes are worth the full price tag but at a discount like this, it's easier to justify.

Thanks! So is Solar screen gorilla glass?

Also can anyone else comment on navigation feasibility? Is it really that hard to use navigation in this watch. I camp quite a bit and don't want to get lost when hiking, was looking for something like this especially when phone dies….

Anywho just curious about others thoughts.
Yes I dont believe they make a solar in sapphire. I've had two fenix watches with sapphire glass and it had been so flawless I wouldn't want to get anything else but sapphire. I don't have a solar one but honestly I think it's a little gimmicky. The watch lasts for almost two weeks in regular watch mode and charges fully in two hours. Adding the solar might get you another day or so it in the grand scheme that isn't much.

Stick with the sapphire…

As far as navigation. Last year I went on a day hike and was having it track me on the way up. On the way down I ended up on a different path and once I realized that it was very easy to see where I got off path and backtrack to the split to get in the right trail.
You can also load a predetermined trail before you hike if you want.

I've worn the 6 sapphire titanium daily for 3.5 years. The physical watch is exceptional...hiking, boating, swimming, camping, it can take a beating. The software is solid and always improving. I chose this watch because it lasts 13 days on a single charge, has hyper-accurate maps and the Garmin software experience online and on your phone is phenomenal. Battery life goes up and down as you fine tune your software and as you use GPS. Even though GPS will gobble up the battery on ANY watch, this one has such a high starting point that it almost doesn't matter.

I went to an REI before ordering mine so I could see and feel the difference between 6 and 6x. For me, the 6x just didn't make sense. If you do a lot of activities in the winter, then the 6x would make sense to wear on top of your gloved wrist. That's another reason to like the buttons instead of touch screen.

I had 3 generations of the Fitbit. When it works, it was good. I had a lot of issues with it breaking and Bluetooth syncing. Between the 3 Fitbit devices, I had an RMA at least 6 times. The software is okay, but once you go with Garmin the experience isn't even close.

You may want to consider the Garmin 265. It really depends on what you're going to use it for.

I use a 6x pro standard glass with a screen protector (piece of glass that goes over the top). Haven't scratched it yet and have had it on for 2.5+ years. I went with the regular glass for the better contrast in bright light and the 6x because big batteries matter. No substitute for displacement to use a car analogy. Its nice to be able to use the watch all the time with the pulse ox on and still only charge it once a week or so with daily fitness runs with music on. Less # of charges = less wear on the battery and with a larger battery to begin with I'm sure I'll be fine using this for many years or until Garmin comes out with a killer feature. Nice to have garmin pay on the watch too as a backup payment method just in case. Navigation is meh compared to 7 series though where the option of touch screen input to go with the buttons would be a nice update. Having the maps always with you is great, sometimes you run across poorly marked trails and end up bushwacking. Gives you more options in the backcountry in case something else goes wrong.

The Solar + Sapphire combo is only available on the Fenix 7, Tactix 7 and Enduro 2 watches, at least those were the models available with both when I purchased an Enduro 2 last year.

In the case of Solar *or* Sapphire, I agree with Ryanw209, go with the Sapphire.

For the 6X an extra 3-days of use on top of the battery rated 21-days is possible but you'll have to have 3 hours per day, for those 21-days, outside in 50,000 lux conditions, that is full 100% direct sunlight to achieve those extra days.
