I've wanted to do something DIY there.. I've had estimates and they want over $14k because they said all of these things they MUST do.. full dock repair cost the same so going to skip on that but something like this I wouldn't mind doing.
I guess the question is, with concrete poured at each pillar, would it be enough to keep it in place or would there need to be an entire slab. A slab, I would have to get permission from the county and it would be swiftly denied but small concrete is okay.

I did a concrete pillar for each of the posts, with bedded pavers underneath.
Overall, it has held up as expected, no complaints.
HOWEVER - it is a real bear to assemble. I hired two very sharp guys to do it, and it took them 2 full days. A third person is probably a good idea, and maybe even a 4th as you assemble the roof. I DIY almost everything, but these are like building a small house. Expect to pay ~$2K in labor costs just to prep/assemble.
