Not bad for brand new i guess, but keep an eye out for the Zwilling sales on the factory seconds. I bought one for about $100, and couldnt find any blemish or imperfections.

Edit: Im dumb, that was not the 9qt

I like my Staub cocotte, lid seems tighter and has self-basting lid design and was less expensive than the Le Creuset

That was for a 4qt. The cheapest the 9qt has ever been from factory seconds with noted visible blemish was $149.

Yeah 9QT is huge but guess it's good if you have a large family.
I bought this 7qt one in the past and it's already quite large

I have a personal preference for the dark bottom of the Staub vs the white enameled bottom of the Cruset. The white bottom allows you to see the browned bits and such but it also gets darkened and you can't completely clean it. Maybe some people like the white bottom with the cooked in look but I'm not one of them.

The kitchen I worked in back in the 90's was loaded with Staub cookware. We never used it because it was too heavy for what we did. Those pans, pots, and Dutch ovens probably dated back to the 70's.I think they ended up auctioning them off.

Anyway, Staub cookware is like luggage- you buy it and you're going to have it forever.

I had to go look it up, but my "huge" Dutch oven is actually a 5.5qt. I'd like one a little larger but considering I thought mine was a 7qt, I'm not sure this 9qt is exactly what I'm looking for - it's nearly 2x the size of a 5.5qt…

Truth. I've had my Staub Dutch oven for well over a decade, and I use it all the time. I have all kinds of pots and pans from high carbon steel to stainless, all-clad, non-stick, you name it. But my Staub and my two cast iron skillets (one a Lodge handed down from my mom, and the other a restored vintage piece received as a gift) are the two pieces of cookware I use every, single, day, and probably will until I die, or until I hand them down to someone else.

I bought my Staub over a decade ago, and I use it almost daily. But I've always felt a tiny tinge of buyer's remorse because I keep hearing the white bottom is better for judging browning of aromatics, roux, and such. But not enough remorse to spend the money to buy a Le Creuset when my Staub does everything I need. Good to hear that maybe I made the right choice after all, LOL!

Are these any better than POS LeCreuset?
My LeCreuset burns everything at the bottom to charcoal every time I do a braise ,it sucks and the lid rocks and doesn't fit tight.
I think that is why no matter how much liquid I put in it when doing a braise it is nearly all dried up not even half way through cooking.
I also read the enamel was independent tested and contains lead , cadmium and antimony.
