These are not unattractive in person. I thought the same thing about the 530's previous to owning them and couldn't pass the price at the time. I do not hate the look at all on studio series and the sound is incredible. I have replaced my Def Tech monitors with these and even prefer these to B&W entry point bookshelves also. This studio line is literally the best bargain in entry level Hi-Fi and punch way above their class with the horn loaded design.

Hi, See Deal link sent me to the SUB 550P page (also on sale).
The JBL (JBL.COM) link sent me to JBL Studio 580 page, the correct page.
In for one.

Thanks

Do these perform well for HT use or are they mainly focused on music? Id be doing a 80/20 split between movies/music.

I've got the 590s with 530s for surrounds. Those work great for both, as long as you're pairing 580s with a strong subwoofer.

Anyone know how these compare to the HK infinity ref speakers? If I were to grab a pair of the 580s to use a rear speakers (or should I make them the front?) would they clash with my HK center, sub and towers?

Looks are always subjective and of course these are polarizing, that said I am in the camp that thinks they look cool in person FWIIW.

The horn is a big part of the excellent and somewhat unique sound quality.
@boosterjm I am not sure how they could incorporate the horn without a unique over all look. If you are DIY handy just take the black vinyl veneer off and replace with whatever sweet real wood veneer and finish you want. They are worth that effort.
The cabinets also are much less resonate and with much reduced internal standing waves due to the shape of the cabinets.
Everything about these speakers is due to competent loudspeaker design.

I have nothing but praise for the sound of all the bookshelves and towers and my favorite reference speakers are vastly more expensive. (BMR curved cab monitors and Revel M126be's and all kinds of other gear and subs)
Speaking of B&W I have a set of 706S2's ($2k)and the 530's are better in just about everyway. I can get really good sound out of the 706's but that requires some serious DSP and PEQ (and they really need a crossover redo as B&W was smoking something when doing these.) That is just an example. There is really only a little price to performance correlation in HiFi these days with many $500-1000 speakers sound as good or better than many $2-5K+ ones.

It seems some 530's are coming in stock soon as well. I am actually going to buy a few pairs 'if' they do sale, to keep in storage they are that good to me for the money. And if I can sell a few of my extra speakers I am going to rebuy the 590's as well. I originally sold them as at that time my space was smaller and I was able to make a few hundred and could not resist that.

(I have used the 590, 570, 530 but not the 580)

Buy the way if anyone purchased the 550p for $210 or $199 from JBL in the last 30 days.
Claim your free Norton price match.
I bought 4 @199 for using with some of my test equipment, so I will be getting $40. Totally worth the 10min hassel.

Majority of people do use the Infinity center over the matching center with this series.
The JBL center is not very good, the infinity center intermixes fairly well.
