If it's the power cord Im thinking about (and purchase many of) those are only a foot, foot and half at most.

Both of these products seem to be 16 gauge.
The Woods cord is indeed longer, by 2 feet: 8' vs. 6'.
It's difficult to compare the "jackets" but they look similar.

Other countries do require this, like the UK.
In plain English: don't trust your outlet just because it is certified, replace once plug becomes loose. That is, assuming your electrician has upper limbs fit for service and didn't backstub those outlets to begin with.
