Isn't McCormick one of the spices brands that Consumer Reports found concerning levels of heavy metals?

Apparently yes, but not sure if they've changed or if this is effected:

The specific McCormick products alleged to contain heightened amounts of toxic heavy metals include the company's ground basil, ground ginger, ground oregano, paprika, ground thyme and ground turmeric. As the case tells it, the levels of heavy metals in the foregoing McCormick herbs and spices "far exceed[] consumer expectations."

It humbles me knowing that someone out there is getting as excited about finding an SD on spices as I do with useless electronics.

I love slick deals on everyday items. Smilie I used to own a slew of useless electronics but purged them a while back.

This used to be my go-to seasoning until I switched to Kinders Steak Rub. But they're both fantastic options.

Health issues aside, you want the salt for flavor. With beef you have to salt it like you hate it for fantastic flavor

ha ha. But seriously, the link between sodium and high BP has been discredited over and over again, though the mainstream public health guidance is only just finally beginning revised to reflect this (old ideas die hard).

I strongly suspect the numbers are variable. It's not like McCormick grows their own herbs. Batch to batch I'm sure they buy from whomever has the best price for the standards of freshness + taste they require. They were just unlucky when CU/CR did that study that some of their sources were particularly tainted, but I strongly suspect it's an industry-wide problem and avoiding a particular manufacture will at best give you warm fuzzies. What's needed are better national standards and enforcement. I see way too many veggies grown next to very busy freeways, with decades of toxic waste being accumulated.

I only see the regular (non-'Less Sodium') at Sam's.
