Just so people know, this is 24 inches deep. Works as a workbench or a desk, but 30 inches for a desk is really ideal. 30" lets you move your keyboard and write some notes down, or tinker with something on the desk.
I've built 2 desks that are 32" deep using solid core doors from these big box stores. I think 24" would be a good size if you're willing to mount your computer monitors on the wall, or on an arm connected to the desk, but otherwise I agree because monitor stands are so large
This doesnt come with hardware (which I assume amounts to 4 bolts) and is unfinished but is slightly larger and $5 cheaper at its regular price: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampt.../319764508

I gotta assume he's talking about this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampt.../319764508

There's a few out there with a similar price. I searched for butcher block and put a price range of $100-$150: https://www.homedepot.com/b/Kitch...2l3?NCNI-5

You can make a workbench super easy when you pick this up at HD. Buy two of those $25 wood sawhorses , then bolt this down to those saw horses. Use a plunge router to sink the bolts into the table so nothing protrudes. super easy and will work great

Can you use this for outdoors? Leave it outdoors? I'd like to use this for a bbq table?

Been using this as a desk for the last 3-4 years. I bought five 28" hairpin legs to support it. I use a multi-monitor mount clamped to the back end on one end, and my work laptop can sit open just underneath one of the monitors with plenty of room for a full size keyboard in front. On the other end I have another monitor and my personal laptop propped upright in a stand with a keyboard in front of it. Works great.

Not exactly the same top... 72" != 62"

you dont want to leave any unsealed wood outside since the moisture & temps shift so much outdoors

Unfinished butcher block countertop is basically the same size for $109, they're also made of better wood.
Sounds great - where to buy?

Thinking of using this as a TV console so I can put my sub underneath as well as make more room for my center channel speaker and AVR. My TV is wall mounted. Wondering if I should try and float this or figure out a way to put legs on it

Gluck using this for anything. I bought 3 of them not too long ago for my work benches in the garage. All 3 have cracks now. For workbench it's not a big deal, but for those who wants to use it for kitchen, I wouldn't bother with it.

What a nice find! At 1.5 inches it's literally as thick as a 2x4, so quite substantial! I didn't think you could get deals like this anymore since covid. Last time I bought a nice unfinished table-top was from Ikea of all places. They used to sell those big acacia slabs for around $100, which looked absolutely stunning after some staining and poly finish.

Does anyone know if this top needs to be mounted with wood movement taken into consideration or does it behave more like plywood since it's made out of many pieces?

Assuming you mean the "Hevea wood" butcher block listed for $109, hevea is just the genus of common Rubberwood (Hevea brasiliensis), so the only difference is thickness and the fact you can pick your finish.

Go to the store and choose from the butcher block countertops they have available, that way you aren't stuck with a bad piece of wood, and as others have said, you can choose your wood at a similar or better price.

I've been using one of these (as part of the height adjustable workbench) as a work desk for the past three years. Overall, very happy. Do not recommend keeping a monitor on it with a stand as the depth is not ideal. that being said, I have my monitor mounted on an arm and it works great for me. This is made out of rubberwood. It's decent. I've hooked up 15 nM direct drive wheel bases to the desk for sim racing and have had 0 issues with that amount of force being exerted. Way better than any pressed wood desk you'll get at Ikea or Staples.
