Come on. Do not add pre-conditions to earn more. We are talking about no pre-conditions to earn 2% cash back on everything purchase and you just can't find the card to earn more. If you like conditions such as annual fee, member to open a bank account etc, that is a different thing. People may not like those conditions.

Spending $500 to get $200 bonus and earning 2% cashback on everything is not good enough? Find one to earn more than 2% cashback on everything. Can you?

Yes, but if you are such a member it's more than 2% cash back
Further, Amex has a card that earns 2x MR points on everything- which if you travel at all is ALSO worth more than 2% cash.
Likewise Chase has one earning 1.5x UR on everything- which again if you travel is ALSO worth more than 2% cash.
$200 for a $500 spend is a perfectly decent signup bonus if you can't afford the higher spend on the larger bonuses- but as an actual card for ongoing use this one is pretty meh compared to other options.... and even THEN there's better $500 spend card signups right now from Chase for example-- which offers 20,000 UR points (which is $200 cash, but again potentially more than that if you travel much) plus 5% back on groceries for a year on 2 different cards (and you can get both- and both also offer bonuses in other categories too)
Now, if you NEVER travel.... well, I'd still take $200 plus 5% back on groceries all year before this one... and it'd give you more reason to obtain BoA status to get their 2.625% on everything option too...
I got denied even though I received pre-approved mail from them for the same card. Why was that? Score 710 and no issue with payments so far. I didn't use mail when applied, Just website..
edit: I got it accepted after insisting...
First 2 of the 3 listed cards offer that--- 20k UR ($200 cash) for $500 spend in first 3 months.
The additional grocery bonus is no longer available though (the post where I wrote that is a couple months old at this point) but they do offer respectively 5x UR per quarter in rotating categories, or 1.5x UR (worth more than 2% cash to those who travel much) as their normal spend rewards.
Me too... honestly, don't get this card. I had a 826 credit score and it's literally dropped to 719 because of just getting and using this card a little bit in the past month and a half.
I have a long and good credit history with nothing negative anywhere in it and no missed payments ever in 22 years and another card that I've had open for 20+ years. My income is very high too, and they only gave me a $2500 credit limit, so my credit utilization is always going to be fairly high with this card since i use it to pay many of my monthly bills. I'm currently at 46% of that credit limit utilized on my new card.
Losing almost 110 points on my credit score by applying for a new credit card and using it for a month is freaking absurd.
I was talking to my brother the other day too and he said that he applied for this card about a year ago and they did an immediate hard pull on his credit, then 2 weeks later told him they needed him to send in a pay stub. He sent them the pay stub and they never responded and eventually just dropped his application (not denied, just basically just let the application expire with no action on their behalf). His credit score took a hit and he never even got evaluated for the card.... that's pure BS.
Plus the way that they make you send in your pay stub is very antiquated. They only accept a fax of it, or physically mailing them a copy. They also apparently are known to decline a bunch of people's applications if anything in the pay stub is not that legible, or whited/blotted out. They should have a mechanism of uploading an image through an SSL-secured webpage that is associated with your application that way both parties get confirmation of the successful transfer of data.
Overall Wells Fargo is also a shady organization based on other things I've read.
I applied for the same card online about three months ago. I am retired with a credit score of about 819. Got approved while I waited with a twelve k limit. Card arrived in about five days and I used it right away to get the two hundred. Fico went down about five points due to the credit pull. Who knows how it all works, not me.
All credit cards have different benefits and YOU have to choose the one that fits your spending to maximize the rewards. Personally we've been using the Wells Fargo CC and enjoying the 15 month zero interest. So far it has paid 2% on everything including auto/homeowners insurance. It's the best one that fits my needs especially with the 15 month ZERO interest (keep your $$$ in the bank earning interest). If you purchase a lot of gas, groceries then another one might be better for you. I use Discover for their 5% bonus but that doesn't compare to the 2% on everything. So far I have received the Credit Card bonus, Checking bonus and savings bonus from Wells Fargo without any challenges. The checking account/savings account were opened just for bonuses and they don't have much to offer. People should be looking at High Interest checking accounts.
I have Old bad credit (charge offs etc) from decades ago.
But want to use a credit card to pay off a delinquent utility bill to rebuild my credit.
Would this card be good? Or too hard to get?
Or any suggestions from anyone?
Those fall off after seven years. Contact the credit reporting company to get those off.

You've got to call. Sometimes they deny because something in the system was off. Could be as easy as an old phone number or new address. These are all handled by they're system, actual employees do no look at these unless you call in.
Question is, which number to call.

To what? I mentioned like half a dozen things in that post.
I've been a long term WF customer with a checking account so wasn't hard to get approved.

Gotta watch out for. The Chase Card application limits
Does that mean I have to make a minimum payment monthly or pay zero for 14 months?
But want to use a credit card to pay off a delinquent utility bill to rebuild my credit.

Is there a phone number to call.
