About this Product:
  • An eSIM is a digital SIM card. It's basically just mobile data. Once it's activated on your device, it can connect you to data networks in other countries – giving you an internet connection with NO roaming charges.
  • You'll get $50 in eSIM data credit, which is almost always enough to cover all your data roaming needs for a full year. But if you run out of data, you can always top up your lifetime eSIM and stay connected internationally.
  • With aloSIM, you can load prepaid eSIM data packages onto your phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Use your eSIM to join data networks in 120+ countries
  • Install your lifetime eSIM on a compatible device to roam on local data networks
  • Your lifetime eSIM never expires, and can be topped up with more data anytime
  • Many data packages cost as little as $4.50 and last 7 days. Depending on the package you choose, the length of time varies.

The European regions aren't that great, covering 4 countries (western europe), 6 countries (Mediterranean), and 11 countries (eastern europe), 3 countries (Scandanavia), and a UK/Ireland region.

I think Airalo has better regional coverage (Europe = 39 countries) at slightly higher prices if you're doing quite a bit of traveling.

From the few I've seen, prices are the same at Airalo on an individual country basis.

I got it. Much cheaper than market and it says it uses LTE at reputable carriers at the 2 Asia destinations I am headed to this summer. Will see how it goes.

esimdb is a good website to research eSim plans around the world.

Personally I value keeping my US number active when I travel. Especially if you rely on text messages for 2-step verification. Fi also has excellent coverage in terms of countries it works in. I just transfer my number on eSIM from Visible to Google Fi before I travel and transfer back after the trip. It is mostly seamless, although on a couple of occasions I've had to deal with CS to complete the transfer.

How does this compare with Nomad app (getnomad.app [getnomad.app])? Seems Nomad is more a-la-carte while this is a lifetime credit?

Which is just giving you a point of reference, not establishing expiration of credit.

If your provider has Wifi calling (and texting), wouldn't texting and calling still work by using another eSIM?

I know calls rely on WiFi, but didn't think plain SMS could function this way (unless it's an iMessage, for example). I could be wrong though.

I have Verizon and it allows me send regular SMS (not iMessage) on Airplane mode through Wifi. This is something I wasn't aware of.

Does plans in a particular European county let me use it in any European country? This is the case for normal cellular plans in Europe.
