The European regions aren't that great, covering 4 countries (western europe), 6 countries (Mediterranean), and 11 countries (eastern europe), 3 countries (Scandanavia), and a UK/Ireland region.

I think Airalo has better regional coverage (Europe = 39 countries) at slightly higher prices if you're doing quite a bit of traveling.

From the few I've seen, prices are the same at Airalo on an individual country basis.

For the EU, It's still cheaper to get a local SIM/eSIM. My 15€ Spanish SIM from Orange gets me 50 GB in all of the EU plus some other countries.

A lot of the Asian countries has "traveler SIM card" at very reasonable rates. For example. Singapore has $10 USD, sim cards that has 100gb for 10 days. Taiwan has $17 USD cards for 7 days and 10 gb data. Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, all have traver SIM at similar rates.

Amazon sells a lot of them. I bought an Orange Spain SIM and it worked great in Germany and Iceland.

Interesting. I just tried airplane mode and no SMS messages are going through. I'm on Visible (Verizon's MNVO).

Make sure your Wifi calling is enabled. I have an iPhone if it makes any difference at all.

Uber, all will work with phone numbers. So this is the drawback?

Which is just giving you a point of reference, not establishing expiration of credit.
The credit expires in a year. The esim never expires so you can just buy more after a year. Most esim providers except Bne use the same gimmick that you can top up at anytime.

No local number given for the plan. But why do you need one for Uber? Is it for the driver to contact you? I've used Uber in other countries without a local number and had no issues.
