It's not redesigned. This one is more like their original model FM2000, which I have and still use for many years now. I had bought the VS3180 model from Costco to replace the FM200 but I didn't like it and gave it away and went back to using the FM2000.

Thanks for clarifying! Now I'm curious, why didn't you like the VS model?
The front of the VS model is shorter than the FM2000 so if you have a thick meat or fish, you'd have to leave some extra plastic for sealing, whereas the FM can seal a little closer to the item. I just didn't like wasting an inch or so plastic. I would prop the VS a little higher, but just gets annoying. Hope that makes sense.

My FM2000 (over 5 years old) won't stop sucking air. Tried replacement foam strips but I think it's the motor not strong enough.
New one is quieter and promptly stops. This one has a couple of more settings - sous vide and pulse (for dry goods).
