All PCIe Devices, including SSD, Graphics Cards or Add-In Cards, are backward cpmpatible. Only the performance will be restircted by the bandwidth of the older generation.

Note the lower speeds, Read/Write 5,000/4,400 MB/s ... This drive is early gen 4, from 2019. Still though it's a new leader in lowest cost for gen 4 TLC with DRAM

It is in fact slightly better than Corsair MP600 and there is no such Catch.

I bought this a year ago, paid $100 at that time, running great, my temp max is 42C. Very temping, my Crucial P3 Plus from Bestbuy deal is coming today, should I return it and get this instead?

i found it won't work. mine is SATA, not PCIe.
Check if PCIe drive is supported by the computer. It could require bios update as well.
If not, there are some deals for WD SATA M2 dirves..

These adapter cards are great for some older systems. I breathed new life into my X58 with 5820X by using one of these to boot from.

One of the best SSDs out there and Teamgroup is not a scummy company like Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron colluding to keep prices high to milk the consumer for the past 10 years. While hard drives have increased in capacity from 4TB to 16TB and 18TB, Samsung and company are happily selling you 1-2TB SSDs and crying crocodile tears all the way to the bank saying theese high SSD prices are justified.
Ummm you do realize Samsung, sk hynix and micron are the only actual manufacturers of nand flash. Team group doesn't manufacture their own nand flash they have to buy it from one of the few companies that actually produce it

These will work IF you can already boot from the M.2 SATA drive/slot.
Older systems that do not have that capability already in BIOS can use it as a data drive but not boot unless you want to explore the [Clover boot] technique. (Not recommended unless you are pretty tech savvy.)

[Question:
can i boot off of the drive from this adapter?
Answer:
As long as your motherboard has a modern enough chipset that supports booting from PCI Express m.2, yes this will work just fine as a boot drive adapter]

If your system is Gen3, won't matter. Gen4, this will run faster.
Likely, you won't be able to tell the difference in actual use.

Just a heads up guys! Samsung and HK Hynix both have yesterday announced plans to severely cut the memory production b/c of the dwindling profits. The news was welcome by shareholders who are now expecting the prices to stabilize or go up b/c of the supply - chain issues down the road.

You may get one with both PCIe and SATA M2 slots. May make sense for update if things go wrong.
I wonder if bios support of PCIe drive is still required.

Yup nvme are just direct pcie slots. These adapters contain pretty much nothing more than traces that go from the nvme pin to the correct pin in the pcie slot

Teamgroup uses YMTC nands from time to time, especially as YMTC triples production this year.

Not since atleast early 2022 (and can't find any reference that team group has used ymtc... Everything says micron). No company that sells in america uses ymtc since there was an export ban in early 2022
