Don't think you can switch to the $10 plan because it's for new customer only.
After you activated the $15 plan, can you select another plan?
Maybe there is a cheaper plan like $100/year plan?

I do not believe data will work after 2GB (hard cut off). There are addons if you run out: 1GB for $5 or 2GB for $10.

It does not require port in, but be extra careful when you check out because if you selected the wrong port/no port option, there isn't a way to cancel the order nor changing that option later, from my limited experience.
Will the orange (T-Mobile) SIM work with a Metro By T-Mobile locked smartphone?

The $5 second line only applies to your first month. After that, you will be billed for $10 each line. With tax and fee, I'm paying $24.44 total for two lines with 2GB data.

Boost is just royally farked up at the moment after a ransomware attack a few months ago. I'm still unable to use the Hotspot/SIM I ordered from them almost 2 months ago, and many are in similar situations. Countless people have been raising FCC complaints just in order to be able to get details to port out.

As for this specific "deal", you will NOT get a full month for the second SIM for $5 - only a partial month. Then for the 2nd month it'll jump back up to $10.

Say your payment for the first SIM is due on the 1st of the month. You order the 2nd SIM on the 15th of the month. It takes them a week to get it to you, so you get it on the 22nd, and it'll already be pre-activated. The "month" you get for $5 will restart on the 1st of the month, aligned with the first SIM. ie, you'll get 1 week of service for $5, then have to pay $10 for the next month.

This is simply not a good deal for the state that Boost is currently in...

for second line only first month is $5, second month is $10

So think like $20 + taxes for 2 lines

The opinion on that thread is mixed. At least one person grabbed a screenshot that did not mention this offer is for 1st month only. I recommend everyone to grab a screenshot of the offer and any fineprints. There are previous offers that is for 1st month only. AFAIK this offer only showed up a few days ago so everyone is still on their 1st month.

I'm adding this to the OP so everyone is informed. I'm not trying to hard sell this plan. But it does look like it is a good deal given the caveats, if you can accept terrible CS and want the absolutely cheapest 2GB plan out there. (Plus their Boost One app gives you credits. Or maybe that is a waste of time for some people for the pennies they give.)

If you can pay a bit more (like Tello for $11) then you don't have to deal with Boost and their caveats. I guess everyone be their own judge.

No. Metro locked phones are locked to Metro only. You cannot use it anywhere else including T-Mobile. Same with Cricket and AT&T.

You're referring to a different offer. This offer only shows up when you order your 1st SIM and immediately after checkout you will be presented. You can't have this if you already have an existing line with Boost due on some other day.

That said, you're right on the pre-activation practice, and as I've found out after wasting hours with their customer service, once they pre-activate the SIM, you cannot port a number, so your selection during checkout is very important and cannot be reversed (in my case it was $100 of mistake because it was prepaid for a year, vs $10)

This is how I think about Boost. If they are a truly exceptional company, they wouldn't be offering these low prices to try to sign people up. You do put down $5 and pretend they will treat you like the king. You first figure out the ins-and-outs of them and then you take advantage of their deals. Same thing with buying Metro phones for $50 and getting it unlocked. Same thing with buying Samsung phones from Google Fi and getting your $400 saving.

And as I found out over the years, the freedom country is not known for its customer service. You can pay hundreds a month with AT&T and they will still treat you like crap. The only dividing line between "good" and "bad" CS in the US of A is whether they are reasonable or unreasonable.

No Boost doesn't provide unlimited slow speed. Redpocket provides that
Mint Mobile also has a similar policy.

For $120/year you can get 2GB/mo of high speed, 128Kbps thereafter, from Unreal Mobile (a Red Pocket brand): https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/610145

Good to know issues of Hotspot, security breach, pre-avtivation SIM and what it means. New customers will need to join Boost with eyes wide open as cheap plans comes with cheap plans issues.
