Details on the changes coming April 18th are detailed here: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023...x%20cred
A Prius gets 56MPG, approx 1.8gallons for 100 miles.
The rate for electricity in CA is $0.26 per KWH. = $6.50 for 100 miles.
Alameda Street Supercharger is $0.56 per to charge (8am to 7pm). = $14.00
A Prius gets 56MPG. The average cost at Alameda is $5/gal = $9.00
So a Model 3 beating a Prius in cost per mile depends on how much they need to use the supercharger. In my area, I see all the Tesla chargers full when I drive by. So people must "need" it
I bet the bulk of those Supercharger people either have range anxiety or can't easily charge at home for whatever reason. Do you really think that many people do over 100 miles a day? A NEMA 14-50 will get you 30 miles an hour, which is a full overnight charge. I get that some people need it, but most people don't.

When I start driving, will the browser mirroring the phone shut off? Specifically I would want Waze up and running (mirroring phone to Tesla screen) while I'm driving and be able to see the map/screen while driving. Tesla navigation is nice, but I prefer Waze because it has highway speed trap alerts.
Do you need to have Tether/Hotspot ability on your iPhone? Wanted to know because I don't have that, and it would cost about 10-20 bucks a month on my business mobile plan to have AT&T turn that feature on for my rate plan.
Thanks!

Anyway, thanks anhdongtx. I will have to check out the Tesla insurance to see if they cover drivers in my area. My issue has been that I moved from the Midwest to Florida a few years ago and there are MANY insurance carriers that won't even write policies for the state simply due to the fact that there are so many hurricanes. I live in the Northeastern part of the state and it's not nearly as much of a concern but because it's still Florida we get less options and higher rates on the carriers that do write policies here.
My rates pretty much doubled when I moved down here and are now at just shy of $1800/yr for 2 drivers (over 35) with good record of no tickets or accidents. I was told because of it being a "performance" car it was rated as a sports car which also contributed to the higher premiums.
