I have two EVs (Tesla/Bolt) and they are hands down my favorite cars I've owned. The only disadvantage they have, right now, is on long road trips, and it can be an issue if you live in cold weather depending on your driving habits.
I live in LA...I have yet to meet an EV owner who has gone back to gas.
Puhahaha "pretty much the same car" obviously you have never driven a Tesla
To me, not a deal.
No Apple in our household, not a deal.
No eurocars, not a deal.
No Subzero or Wolf, not a deal.
No cable TV, cordcutter OTA.
MVNO $6/mo. Now that's a deal.
We have 4 EVs, over 10y old.
2 of them purchased used, tax credits already deducted, and one of them I paid $3k private party.
All my frienz said 'hey, let me know if you see another deal like that'
No gas
No oil
Charge with PV solar
Since they're old and off bluebook now, insurance is $84. A year. Not a month.
I'm practically driving for free.
Money in the bank. Not TO the bank.
It did go away several years ago- entirely.
It only returned Jan 1 2023-- and in a different form.
The first because they said they target 50% CAGR on average and repeatedly call out some years will be higher and some lower.
If you look at their CAGR from 2012 to today it remains above 50% on average- and is likely to continue that way for years to come.
Likewise the "straight out of margin" bit ignores economies of scale, increased manufacturing efficiencies, and reduced cost inputs among other economic factors.
You're bunching up "all vehicles of a class" not looking at specific vehicle models.
Teslas have the lowest risk of injury of any cars on the road, period full stop, per NHTSA testing data.

Full $7500 remains, no end date, for all Teslas that had it last month except ONE-- the RWD Model 3, for whom it will go down to $3750, but not until April 18th.
I mean, this is like the people waiting to buy any tech....yes if you keep waiting it'll eventually go on sale for less at some point...and you'll still be in the situation of 'If I wait longer it'll eventually be cheaper" that your are now.
Sticking to that notion you'd never buy anything.
Tesla adjusted prices multiple times this year- in 2 cases they RAISED them. In 2 others they lowered them. And in 2 more they raised some and lowered others.
Several models/trims are still MORE expensive on an MSRP basis than they were back in late 2019 before the pandemic (though cheaper including the tax credit)
If you need a car, and/or this car meets some specific needs/desires your current one does not, and it's affordable for your financial situation, then buy it.
If none of those are true- then don't. That applies to any car. Or really any purchase at all.
"Buy Honda or Toyota and you will be happier".
YMMV of course.
Heck I'm in North Carolina-- hardly a coastal megatropolis, and there's at least 20 different supercharger locations less than 200 miles from me in every direction.
You mention you just bought yours- so you don't have experience actually taking trips with it-- but I can assure you after years of them- it's a complete and utter non-issue.
For all other trims that date has no significance as the credit remains $7500 going forward.
That's what you put in a tiny-range hybrid, not a BEV.
I am leasing a 2020 Bolt. It is a good car if you want to do drive by yourself in the city but really tight if you have two child car seats in the back. I am a little over 6 foot tall and kids keep complaining that there is not enough room if I am in the driver's seat.
Also the safety ratings for the Bolts are bad, please look up YouTube videos for reference. 2020 and 2021 Bolts do not have adaptive cruise control, the 2022 version of the car has it.
The EUV is slightly bigger. I will pick a Model 3 or Y over the Bolt, you get what you pay for

I'd drive a 70 mile range LEAF before the getting ripped off to buy a 50k poorly built garbage Tesla. You don't get anything that you pay for with this scam company.

Yes, i guess so are just so above all of us, huh, not caring what kind of car you drive at all. Good for you.
Edit: I am not crazy about the looks of a Tesla either. I get it, it's polarizing. There are some people who love it and some who don't. But at least it's not a Bolt. Don't get me wrong, a Bolt has its place and purpose. A good-looking stylish car, it is NOT. I think every non-Bolt owner (and probably many Bolt owners) will agree to that. I think if you are in a professional building parking lot, being seen walking out of a Bolt would be downright an embarrassment. Ok, some of you are above looks and materialism, good for you. The rest of the world doesn't operate that way. You can potentially find the president of a company drive a Tesla, but you are not going to find one driving a Bolt. Not the president of a real company with 50+ employees (unless he/she is so big and rich he is doing it just to prove a point like Bill Gates). Let's be real hear.
Comparing a Bolt to a Tesla has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. They both have their merits and their weak points, but they are COMPLETELY different types of cars for different target audiences. It's like comparing a Bolt to a golf cart. Both do their jobs well, just meant for different purposes. So stop with the stupid comparisons.
Agreed. Don't know why you are getting all the hate. I'm not a fan of the way Musk acts sometimes but there is no doubt Tesla makes good cars. As someone who loves European luxury, I will be first to tell you how crappy Tesla interior is compared to similarly priced European cars, but the tech is there for sure.
Look at the Chinese car market, where EVs are a huge percentage, and Tesla still does well against all the really new and advanced EV makers there.
Bolt has no where near the performance of a Tesla but is more positioned like a Nissan leaf. They are great values for commuter cars.
With all of these layoffs going around in big techs, pretty sure the demand is softening for a 50k electric cars
Yeah that's why they keep breaking production and delivery records right?

They have sold 4 million EV so far, they wouldn't be selling any cars if it was "garbage".
Just hope for them to do better if you don't like them, don't hate.
I like to have a heads up display and speedometer in driver's vision, I hope Tesla adds one soon
