The comments really tell you which posters have driven EVs, which haven't, which haven't driven Tesla, and which don't travel more than their daily commute to work.

I've had multiple ICE vehicles and multiple EVs (100% battery, not hybrid). BMW, Audi, Tesla. While they all make nice cars, there is no competition between Tesla and the others when it comes to actually using the vehicle. If you've tried driving a non-Tesla EV you know what I'm talking about. It's great going to work and back, but good luck going a few hundred miles. The non-Tesla charging network, even today, is a nightmare to deal with, with it's inconsistencies and general lack of infrastructure. It's incredibly stressful to drive anywhere and not knowing if the chargers you plan to use along your route are actually operational. So many of the generic chargers, or even big networks like Electrify America, are constantly down or out of service.

Meanwhile, I can throw any location in my Tesla's GPS and just go. I have 0 fear that I won't be able to charge, won't make it, etc. Tesla has completely nuked the concept of range anxiety. Until the Tesla network is open to others, or other networks start to compete, there is no way to use a non-Tesla EV for anything other than local travel and not feel range anxiety. And it sucks, and I know because I experience it personally. Also, the last couple Tesla's I've owned have been perfect (no panel gaps, etc.), I pay nearly the same insurance as I did with my last non-Tesla car, and my commutes cost 1/5 that of my ICE car. But I'll let people keep spouting this stuff because it shows us who is just talking out of their butt Smilie

I wish this wasn't true, because the Audi and BMW all electric cars are beautiful. But for now, it is what it is.

Not to mention I personally know 2 people that had EVs catch on fire. One the entire hose was destroyed, just some brick facade standing. The second was a hybrid and the garage was destroyed as they noticed quickly.

Why are people comparing the Bolt to a Tesla? My kid's go-kart is faster and more powerful than a bolt.

Since gasoline cars catch on fire 10-100x more often than pure EVs the Hybrid at least is not surprising.

A hybrid is like a futon. Not a very good couch, not a very good bed.

You still need to drive roughly 210,000 miles to break even on the cheapest model 3 (assuming an ICE vehicle that gets 25mpg and fuel prices at $5 gallon).
Since you left out the cost of the ICE vehicle entirely (and the electricity rate you used) that's pretty weird math.

As noted previously, with the tax credit all trims of the 3/Y are now CHEAPER than the average new car

Yo
time wasted waiting to charge/charge.

Which over those 210k miles will be vastly less time than you wasted at gas stations

Because 99% of your charging is at home, while you are asleep.

Here's Lexus still charging for map updates on many cars that have been free on Teslas for all their existence:

Here's Mercedes charging a subscription to enable the rear steering all versions of this model come with from the factory

So you can be mad at people telling you all lux brands do this- but it remains a fact.

Comment was about Tesla cutting corners. Luxury brands don't do that.

I can teach it to you but I can't make you understand it. Most people already have an ICE vehicle so why would they NEED to purchase an EV?

Houses burn down from gasoline cars catching on fire too. A lead acid battery fire can ignite a car. The only reason EV fires make headlines, and other car fires don't, is fearmongering by anti-EV interest groups and gullible people who think selective reporting by the media translates to actual incident rates.

You should not lump hybrids in with EVs either in your anecdote. Hybrids have WAY higher fire rates than internal combustion only cars and way higher rates than EV only vehicles. Hybrids have far more points of possible failure due to their complexity.

EVs have significantly less fire rates than gasoline powered cars and hybrids, it's an order of magnitude difference.

Quote :
Hybrid-powered cars were involved in about 3,475 fires per every 100,000 sold. Gasoline-powered cars, about 1,530. Electric vehicles (EVs) saw just 25 fires per 100,000 sold.

No, your comment was about Nickle and diming. You can tell because I directly quoted you saying it.

here it is again.

Quote from FakeBro :
Ok I have Tesla MYP and Lexus ES. Nickel and dime is just Tesla. F off if you're saying the luxury brands doing that

Nothing about cutting corners. Just nickel and dime being "just tesla" and lux brands don't do that.

Except, of course, they do- as in all the examples I just cited for you.

Even before EVs were a thing people bought ~80 million new cars a year.

So they'd buy an EV for the same reason they in the past would have bought a new ICE vehicle--- they need or want a new car. Only difference would be EVs being the future, and objectively better at most things, so when they buy said new car they buy an EV instead of an ICE vehicle.

If they do NOT want or need a new car then they wouldn't buy one- regardless of ICE vs EV.

Weird question. Not sure what you imagined you were "teaching" anybody- so glad you admitted you can't!

Corolla isn't considered a car. It's like horse cart with 10 more horsepower.

Musk is a special case because he craves attention and behaves like an A$$. If Tesla makes sense for you it's worth considering.

Keep in mind Tesla has no respect for customer privacy.
