It's funny how this post is simply about Tesla, but the haters wanted to jump on here and justify that the Chevy Bolt is better. If it is, why do you need to hop onto a post about the most leading EV in the market? Notice how Tesla has no commercials. Quality sells itself.

Also, anyone who feels the need to be a hater because of someone's car choice and/or fuel choice is an idiot. Like the moron who posted that he likes to park next to a Tesla with his beat up car. If you put your time and energy into something else, you wouldn't be driving an old beat up car. Let that sink in.

Anyone who drives a Tesla should be ashamed of themselves and do some research into the quality of these vehicles. Following the trend for a car purchase. Fad car. Car that falls apart and plenty of instances where the brand new car fails on its first week of ownership. You're a guinea pig with this company. They don't even test it before selling it.

Clearly you've done zero research and you should be ashamed of yourself for even writing such a ridiculous comment. I feel bad for you and the people who post comments just to be spiteful without any factual knowledge.

Bolts were told to not park in garages because they were causing fires. Google it. Huge recall.

I decided to rent a Tesla over the weekend just to see how it is. It is definitely a learning curve and it drives way different than an ice vehicle but the charging infrastructure is simply poor depending where you love. There were none in Clarksville,TN. I didn't have the adapter to use the electrify America chargers. Nashville has 2 super charging stations. Dickson TN which has a population of 16k people has a super charger. Murfreesboro where I live which has a population of 157k people doesn't have one. Manchester,TN population of 12k people has one. I'm not sure what the procedure is for charging locations but recharging has definitely been a bad experience for me.

The fact that Tesla cars in China are substantially cheaper than those in the US, unlike any other car brand, may not necessarily be a positive attribute.

Tesla's profit margins are high because of their innovative manufacturing and vertical integration.

Toyota engineers and management were thoroughly impressed when they dissected the Tesla
Please educate yourself before watching margins plummet this year.

I own a Tesla and am a shareholder. I wouldn't get either of them right now if you can buy in cash. I wouldn't get a Bolt period because I'd have to deal with dealerships again, and as a former Leaf owner, EV dealerships are no better than others. I much prefer the Tesla/Rivian/Lucid model.

As the Fed continues to raise interest rates (unemployment risks be damned), financing will continue to get more expensive, which will make all car brands (except maybe Porsche and the like) lower prices or offer incentives. Tesla has the biggest economies of scale in EVs (most factories, most vertically integrated, biggest retained earnings pile of cash to weather downturn, biggest market cap to afford to issue more stock) and don't have a dealership network to sap profits. So you can count on more reductions unless inflation reaches 3% asap, or Powell keels over and we get someone who cares about the unemployment side of the Fed's dual mandate as much as propping up the market.
They haven't harmed employment yet. But lets be honest. This is not all on the Fed. They tried to stop QE a couple of times. Once under Obama and another under Trump. Each time the market freaked out and the Fed backtracked. Now the Fed is actually doing it. If there was political will back during those two other times. Then the effect of all the money printing in 2020 and supply shortages would not have created as large a problem as we have now. We are literally still dealing with the clean up from 2008 because of all this QE, low rates, encouraging equity firms to get into real estate rentals. All of it was part of the cure for 2008. So maybe we should be asking Congress to do their jobs, instead of whining about whatever the soup de jour nonsense is. Because the Fed only has the one tool right now and its a hammer.

Why people keep saying 50k is avg price for a car, my prius prime was 32K. Here are some other cars you can buy for 32k that are reliable, great on gas, cheap to insure and wont take 30 mins to charge.

Toyota Rav4
Toyota Corolla
Honda Accord
Honda CRV
Mazda, etc…
Maybe for a low opinioned RAV4, Accord, CRV. But a well equipped version of those will be closer to $50K out the door, similar to a Tesla 3.

The Corolla doesn't belong in that group. It's a puny engine econo-box not even close to the other models and certainly not a Tesla 3.

So, yeah, 50K is a typical price for a run-of-the-mill car these days. It doesn't get you luxury or even close to it.

Bet a refresh is releasing soon. Last time the price drop on the inventory new Raven P100DL was down to 88,000. The new Plaid was introduced a few months after when all the inventory was sold out.

My issue isn't that I love Tesla, hell I own BMW M-cars, the problem is that the criticism generally is inaccurate or worse yet completely false. I strongly believe there is a strong disinformation campaign against Tesla. I work on enough vehicles to know that every manufacturer has issues but Tesla's are always highly publicized and generally overblown. To make matters worse there are false reports constantly like fake vehicle fire or FSD crashes that get a TON of media coverage and then are later determined to be false. There is never any follow up "we're sorry for lying" story by the news outlets, they just move on to the next fake news. That is happening constantly, and read through this very thread and you find that it has false influences public opinion. That's an issue.

Model 3 dropped $1000 BUT the $7500 tax credit is going away, so not really a price drop unless you have cash to buy one before April 18

I thought Elon dropped the prices to meet the credit since the credit threshold dropped below Tesla's prices. Or is the entire program going away?

Exactly. Tesla was the only electric car manufacturer not invited to the world energy summit. It's also the biggest.

This is a huge reason why it's difficult for me to buy an EV. I know a lot of people with EVs, mostly Tesla and they love them, but they also only travel on east coast Interstates with chargers on their route. I drive to and through a lot of rural areas on 2-lane roads. I'm waiting to see the final tax credit qualified models list before I buy my next car. I'd love a hybrid but only if there is a tax credit to mitigate the higher cost over gas-only. I can't consider an EV at this point of its evolution for the reasons you state.
