Seriously if you're gonna post FUD at least try and make it stuff that hasn't already been debunked multiple times in this very thread- for this kinda nonsense I can just cut and paste the debunking--- EVs catch on fire vastly less often than gasoline cars.

Gas cars do it so often nobody bothers making SENSATIONAL HEADLINES about it though.
Did somebody fail to read the "SENSATIONAL HEADLINE"?
It says:
"Why Teslas keep catching on fire
EVs catch fire far less often than gas-powered cars, but firefighters still need to adapt."

Looks like you can't find one thing wrong with the article. LOL

Depends on a number of possible factors.

Some folks have chargers at workplaces/parking garages/gyms/grocery stores/etc they frequent and use those.

Some folks use superchargers (though this will be more expensive than charging at home would)

Some folks who rent and want an EV plan to when their lease is up rent somewhere else that they can charge (some apartment complexes have chargers, some apts. have garages, or renting a house is an option for some)

And for some people, it's just not a practical solution for them yet.

That's not really an issue for EV sales in general right now- since ~2/3rds of the US lives in detached single-family housing where home charging likely IS an option, so it'll be years before EV production is scaled up enough to burn through that market- and by that time the apartment/work/etc charging situation is likely to be far better.... but it sucks for the apt. folks in that circumstance for whom none of the options I mention will work

I don't believe EVs catch on fire less. There is a movement out there to spread all sorts of propaganda about how great EVs are. Tesla is likely behind it. After all the fires that started in EVs in garages, all of a sudden, we saw stories about how "research" claimed EVs got on fire less than gas cars.

I just DON'T believe it.

Not only did I read it- I specifically quoted the "EVs catch fire far less often than gas-powered cars" part the LAST some someone posted that story that you reposted for like the 4th or 5th time in the thread because that guy posted it as "evidence" they catch on fire a lot.

Like I said if you're gonna post FUD, try finding some new stuff.

The great thing about facts is they remain true even if you refuse to believe them laugh out loud

Yes you've made it clear you don't believe facts- but like I said, they remain facts.

Depth of discharge is a bigger deal than charging rate 20-80%.

you'd basically have a gas car, with longer fill up times at the station Wink

I still don't understand why Toyota doesn't make more of the Hybrids...go into any dealership, even pre-covid, and the hybrids or models with actual battery range were always in very limited supply despite the obvious demand.
https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyo...s-results/

1. They're selling tons of hybrids, just not Priuses nowadays in America where many love SUVs and Trucks much more.

Rav4 hybrid really sells well.
(And 600+ mile range murders other non-hybrid suvs.)

2. Corollas sell an order of ten times more than Priuses, so Toyota simply made the Corolla Hybrid for the majority of sedan buyers who don't like the Prius hatchback design.
Easier to upsell one of the world's best selling models than the Prius.

3. Chips shortage and corona and Ukraine.
Even Epson printers are in short supply, so car makers have even been shipping cars without all the optional electronic add-ons because of this shortage.
Toyota recovered better than the rest because they already redid their disaster supply chain organization after Fukushima, but lack of sufficient chips is simply not a problem you can work around quick (ie. Let's go build another billion dollar chip fab plant tomorrow!).

4. Same shortage MURDERING car paint colors!!!

ALL that PUKE GRAY painted cars?!?
It's NOT A FAD!

Instead, even simpler.
Inability to get normal supplies of color pigments, especially metallics for shiny paints.

Now I get to throw up over my neighbor's puke gray cars for the next decade....

...

As for Toyota, they never said no EV, but rather they'll explore all options moving forward including hybrid, hydrogen, ev, and more.

They've been in the car business long enough to realize that a Chubby Ass F150 Lightning that's got horrible range (vs a hybrid) isn't going to do for a lot of Real truck users. (No, not the skinny shrimp driving it to and from work in a paved city.)

The mere fact the Ford Maverick Hybrid sold out that fast into next year's supply reflects this. Right sized, right range, right earth saving tech - for that segment of truck users.
(Even gardeners in Los Angeles can hate a F150 Lightning - driving around LA to get to clients can mean using up the entire truck range during the day. So now what!? Gotta sit and charge the truck more times than the battery lawn tools?? So a Hybrid Maverick makes more sense.)

This post is specifically about the product that Tesla has to offer - Model S, 3, X and Y. So, ideally people who are current owners of the car or have owned the car for a significant amount of time in the past should be the ones giving their inputs and suggestions to others who are either planning to buy one or still on the fence. It makes total sense. The current or past owners are also welcome to provide criticism and feedback which you think can improve the car which is made by an American company and selling it's products all over the world. As a true American, one should be extremely proud of this simple fact regardless of everything else like battery, politics, ideology, philosophy etc,. I am a non citizen by the way and I am extremely proud of owning a Tesla and just like every product, the car too has its pros and cons.

I don't jump on a Bolt or Corolla or BMW post and say "hey don't buy this Bolt or BMW because of x, y and z reasons" for the simple reason being that I don't own one or I haven't owned one in the past and so my comments on that post would be totally meaningless, completely misleading and would be genuinely false.

If you like or even love your X, Y or Z car, great. Every one has their own personal preferences and one has to respect that. You could be saving or spending or doing whatever you want with your money, but let that one person who is on the fence or been watching on the sidelines for the car take that decision.

Oooh... a "majority" of 120 cars.

From a car model they've sold well over 1,000,000 of...

Sounds like a SUPER COMMON issue...

No, wait... the opposite of that....

Know what's awesome about your link?

You clearly didn't bother to read it.

Because it confirms what you were told earlier- here, let me quote:

Keep re-reading that till you actually understand it Big Grin
They didn't break out the Tesla vs other, more reliable EVs for the spontaneous fire.

Now, keep in mind. Spontaneous means the car in the garage goes up in flames by itself.

Gas car fires that spontaneously start in the garage are even rarer because of the lack of an ignition source.

Lithium bicycles, hoverboards, iPhones, and yes, Teslas have all been in the news CATCHING ON FIRE just sitting there WITH NO EXTERNAL ignition source!

Uh...no. They are REALLY not. Just the opposite. Their profit margins, largely on the back of vastly more efficient design and manufacturing, are 2-3 times better than the best margins in legacy auto

Your link for this was almost 5 years old, and 4 factories ago for Tesla.

Fords profit for all of 2022 was...negative 2 billion dollars. They LOST 2 billion.

Teslas net profits for all of 2022 was... 12.583 billion dollars.

And Tesla sold fewer cars to do it too.

Also, "big boy" ford in 2022 sold 61,575 EVs total. Tesla sold north of 1.3 million of them. Ford don't seem very "big" here.

Your posts continue to be insanely factually wrong
The negative loss was partially due to supply chain issues caused by the pandemic - so what?

And "F-150 Lightning And Bronco Help Ford Make $1.1 Billion Profit In 3 Months". That's not even seeking 100% of F150s as EVs.

Realistically, you'll want to break down profit per vehicle and examine buyer demand trends.

Profits on F150 Lightnings are huge and the demand is huge. Teslas? They've cut prices again and again, but nobody cares because all the other big car brands have released EVs, many of them better in the ways buyers care about.

Hello. Welcome to 2023.

Let me know when you have caught up to current events.

https://www.reuters.com/business/...023-01-19/

" To control production costs, Tesla has invested heavily in new manufacturing technology - such as the use of large castings to replace small metal parts. Tesla brought battery manufacturing and other parts of its supply chain in-house, and standardized vehicle designs to improve economies of scale.

Using production-cost advantages to fund price cuts has a long history in the auto industry.

Henry Ford slashed prices on his Model T in the early 20th Century as his innovative mass-production system revved up. During the 1980s and 1990s, Toyota used the cost lead provided by its lean production system to offer features at prices Detroit automakers struggled to match. Now, Toyota is rebooting its strategy under pressure from Tesla."

https://fourweekmba.com/tesla-pro...n-per-car/

" Telsa's profit margins moved from negative 3.15% in 2019 to over 15% in 2022. As Tesla scaled up manufacturing and improved its economies of scale (with new facilities) and scope, the company became extremely profitable by 2022."
Yep. And that's why Tesla stock is down 42% in one year....

Sinking ship, dear...
