high end? the MSRP is $110, so it's not like the $250 hyperion elite 3 [brooksrunning.com] (ie carbon fiber plate racing shoe). i would consider brook's low end to be the range 2 [brooksrunning.com] ($75 MSRP) or signal 3 [brooksrunning.com] ($85 MSRP). so maybe mid-end. brooks has had the launch 9 (GTS or not) on sale [brooksrunning.com] at $70 for months, so i don't consider this a "great deal" (as i prefer direct from brooks as it has an awesome return policy [brooksrunning.com]: 90-day worn, 1-year unworn, free return shipping and no restocking fee).
the bigger concern to me than "end" is the intention of the shoe. the launch is an inexpensive lightweight/fast shoe (compared to the hyperion line, ie $170-250), sacrificing cushioning for lighter weight (ghost 15 & glycerin 20: 10.1 oz, launch 9: 8.2 oz, ie ~2 oz lighter). it's a shoe i can both train and race in (unlike the hyperion line where runners might only train once or twice a week in because of the higher cost and lesser durability). i also run in ghost, but reserve those for long, slow runs. (i trail run in my launch shoes, but that's because the launch toebox fits better on me than the ghost, so there's less forefoot shifting/sliding while running trails, and the minimal tread depth is fine for the packed-dirt trails i run.)
i have 4 pairs of launch 8, but have never even tried on the launch 9, so feel free to discount what i say, except what is on brook's own launch 9 product page [brooksrunning.com]. (i'm currently rotating through 2 pairs about to hit 300 miles each and have 2 more for when those wear out, because if it's something you demand a lot out of, like a running shoe, then you better stock up on it if it works for you, because with each new model year, you never know how the company is going to ruin the shoe.)

Anyway what is the recommended brooks to try?
Also, Glycerin's 10mm drop vs Adrenaline's 12 mm drop, although I think 10mm is still on higher side (6mm to 8mm drop preferred usually)
