Does it turn off automatic?
Well, no. When it runs out of the water that you put in, it sounds an alarm. The "alarm" will wake the dead, you won't forget to go cut it off.

How to prevent rust or brown color at the bottom?
Use distilled water, a lot of minerals in tap/spring water

What do you mean by quick release and cool, I always have an issue peeling my eggs quickly after refrigerating
Put some in a relatively hard container with a lid/cover and a little water. Shake, not too hard, not too little. Shells come right off.

I have an ancient one that shuts off automatically when the water is gone. I have seen a few newer ones like this that don't do that. Still would work though.

This is weird being thumbed down. You literally pour water and press a button. How does this anger people lmao. China and Russia are winning. MERICA got soft. Boiled egg soft 😆

You can also make hard boiled eggs with a rice cooker. No need for all these extra gadgets that will eventually go to landfill.

Instantpot.

1 cup water, a splash of vinnegar.

5 minutes for a hard boiled egg. Quick release and then cool on water for an easy peel shell.
The instant pot ( or other pressure cooker) does better than other methods for fresh eggs but I still get cracking when I quick release for very fresh eggs, It took me a while to realize they were cracking during the release of pressure not during the cooking whether or not I poked a hole in the fat end.

I have been experimenting with "1 minute" cooking at pressure and then not hitting quick release for a while, it is tough to get it just perfect with varying egg sizes.

Fresher eggs have a smaller air pocket which makes them harder to peel and more likely to crack.

We have chickens, so the eggs may be between 1 hour to two weeks "old" compared to sometimes 6 weeks plus in the grocery store.

For all those commenting on how Instant pot makes eggs, i've cooked boiled eggs sous vide, instant pot, and boiled starting cold, and hot.

The only way to get sulfer free, easy peel eggs is to start with boiled water, drop in, 15 minutes, then ice bath. The proteins coagulate the fastest, since the temperature is boiling from start and have less time to stick to membrane/shell. 15 minutes allows the yolk to cook completely without forming that green sulfery layer that makes your farts smell like death.

Instant pot starts cold, and gives eggs time to stick to shell. Same with cold water. Also have sulfer issues with instant pot, and eggs don't cook evenly every time. Sous vide is the worst for hard boiled, and best for eggs benedict, and soft boil applications.

I have one of these and keep my own chickens. This is great for prepping eggs for the work week. Otherwise on the weekends it's omelets, scrambled eggs and egg sandwiches.

if you already have an air fryer you can make them there too without much hassle. just 10 minutes at 300º F (8 minutes if you like soft boiled, 12 minutes if you like them overcooked). once cooked put them in cold water to peel like you'd normally would.
