I will, however, disagree slightly with respect to this being a good deal to get into the platform. For a few bucks (okay, maybe ~$50), deals pop up including a brushless driver + drill (if you are willing to return a battery), or $100 more but you have a backup.
Of course, if you just need a drill, the above isn't very valuable.
As for Harbor Freight, don't write off Hercules just yet. Their latest round of drills and drivers is pretty impressive. In fact, it is matching up with the Milwaukee Gen 4, if you can believe that. Here's the video. I think these guys did a driver video vs. Milwaukee too. Not as many tools in the lineup, but impressive none the less. You are still going to pay 50% more for the brushless combo kit from HF than this DeWalt kit, but I think that investment is, to your point, setting you up with the "latest" tool(s), top performing that could last 10+ years vs. starting out with the 'top performers' of 10 years ago.
