These are sooooo cool.

FYI: You might get lucky and find an open box for added savings

Was buying a couple of years back a Atari Throwback at Lidl for around $30 normal retail price. Wouldn't pay much more to get a Walnut design version.

This isn't really comparable to those all-in-one devices. This thing is a full computer running a customized Linux OS. You can swap out the OS for Windows and also upgrade the RAM and add an M.2 SSD.

This is an excellent system for emulation. Add a little bit of RAM, an SSD, Windows 11 and it does the trick. Is it the fastest windows system? No, but it does just fine with emulation of PS2, PS1, SNES, etc.

Is this better than an xbox one S for emulation?

Man, this is a good deal, but that $99 Gamestop sale ruined me.

Combine with the Amex offer $15 off $150 for a bit closer to the GameStop deal.

Hardware-wise, you're getting:

AMD R1606G [cpubenchmark.net] (dual-core Zen1 with Vega 3 graphics)
2x4 GB DDR4-2400 (SO-DIMM, upgradeable to 32 GB)
32 GB eMMC (empty M.2 slot, SATA, up to M.2 2280)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ata...1_console)
ETA Prime teardown [youtube.com]

If it was $100, no question. $200? Meh.

Since the memory is already 8 GB and in dual-channel, I'd consider just leaving it as is.

I just use retropie and a raspberry pi to do all the retro games. The rpi is fast enough to run games from Atari up to wii/ps1. Only costed me $35 plus a couple of old controllers in my junk drawer...

Your rPi has probably gone up in value since then. Can't find one for $35 anymore.

Nice find op. This still seems expensive for what it is though. Maybe I just don't get it.
