Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe are both fantastic games if you didn't get them on the Wii U (or if your Wii U is now bricked - YMMV).

Any thoughts on Mario bros U deluxe vs Yoshi crafted world?

Is the DK game have long gameplay? As in over 8 hours ? Any reason to keep playing after you beat it ?
I played it on the Wii U. There's the basic "traverse the level" and then there's the "completionist" task of getting all of the KONG letters and puzzle pieces in each level. That's no easy task, especially in hard mode. If you want a challenge, both in platforming and exploration, this game has that in spades. It also has a great visual style and theming.
I will say one thing I found annoying is that jumping off of an enemy and getting a bounce depends on holding the jump button down while doing the jump, but holding down the jump button also causes you to float (if you have Diddy), so it changes the trajectory of your jump. I found it frustrating when I wasn't able to time it just right to get the high bounce, even though I thought I had. They probably haven't tweaked the timing required in the Switch release, but I'm pretty sure they didn't move hover to a separate button than jump, which is what I would have liked.

I have Tropic Freeze on my Wii U and don't want to have to bust that out just to play it. But still, $40 is too much to buy a game I already have for the switch. I'll wait longer.

Most folks over on this thread point out that YCW is better for younger players.
In other words: depends on the audience.
However, if you're choosing one... definitely get SM3DW
Really, it's a shame that the Wii U flopped as hard as it did - there were so many good (first party) games on it.
Playing NSMBU with someone on the Wii U pad (placing blocks on the screen to help) was so much fun.
