I absolutely love my Oasis. My only complaint is, as a former DX user, that the screen isn't bigger. But at this price, it would be a no-brainer if I didn't already have one.

Honestly, I would go with the new 8" paper white. It is much easier to hold in your hands and every bit as good as this in many ways. Also, the paperwhite battery is better.

The oasis is way better to use than any other Amazon tablet. Don't go by just images or descriptions. You have to use it to see the difference. The bigger bezel on the side makes a ton of difference. On the paperwhite or other kindles the bezel is too narrow. You have to hold it in an uncomfortable position and you risk accidental taps all the time. On the Oasis, your hand grips the device comfortably and your thumb can just rest on the page turn button. Plus the oasis weight distribution is very good. Since most of the weight is one one side, it makes it the ideal reader for reading in bed when you're on your side.

My only issue with the device is that the battery life is really bad. I have to charge mine often. Their 'weeks of charge' doesn't apply to this device. It's a couple of days at best (at least for me). Of course, my oasis is old. I have the same version in this thread - the one without the color temperature change. It didn't seem worth the upgrade when they released the color temperature changing one. But waiting impatiently for a refresh now. Almost got the scribe recently but changed my mind since I realized it'll definitely be a downgrade in reading experience compared to the oasis.

I received mine today, it was a 10th-generation oasis instead of the 9th that was advertised. The only difference I think is the warmth of the light. So far so good. I asked amazon to remove the ads in chat and they agreed. Good deal.

Mine looked great cosmetically, but turned out I could not register it because the SN was marked "lost or stolen." Battery life seemed good and everything. Woot is exchanging it for me so crossing my fingers I get another 10th gen and I can register my amazon account this time!
