These are very temporary and a basic cold solder joint. I have used a lot of these in my Christmas LED display to replace 1 pixel which requires 6 of these solder sleeves per pixel. They are good in a pinch, but when I put the display up the following year, most have become brittle from the storage heat or have lost their "bite" on the wires. I end up doing a normal solder and heat shrink tubing when I pull them out of storage before going back into the display.

These look like junk.

Half of the 5 star review pictures are literally improper installation. The ring is suppose to melt and disappear, instead the photos show the ring.

You're better off soldering the wire yourself and then do heatshrink tube after.

There are also crimping type butt connectors rather than soldering.

I personally prefer crimping connection over solder connection since it's generally more resilient to vibrations and tension. You will need to spend $25 on a real crimper though, you shouldn't just use a needle nose plier.
Suggestions on a crimper for first time user?

Will a hairdryer get hot enough to melt the solder?
If you don't have a heat gun you can get by using a lighter. Just make sure to keep moving it back and forth.

These work with any normal cutting pliers. Single sided is my preference for a better bond than double sided in the OP.

Will the $10 Harbor Freight heat gun work on these?

And, when would you use these instead of crimp connectors, wire nuts, wago or twist/solder/heat shrink?

Anyone have experience using this to hardwire a radar detector or a dash camera in their car? Pros? Cons?

Ive used these and it works great. Im not using them on anything high voltage but it works great for auto related wiring.

Ive installed ditch lights, chase lights and all kinds of crap in my 4runner. It better than the crimping stuff . The only downside I can think of is you'll need some sort of heat source ie heat
gun and if its in a tight work area, then its not idea to heat anything around there but otherwise its great stuff for the price.

I prefer crimped connections over these, especially with grip strength like mine. I crimp so hard the oxygen is displaced and a pure copper connection is made. Solder can't do that...

I've never used these, but the Learn Electronics Repair YouTube guy has a favorable review [youtube.com] of this type of connector.

I don't see any text in the main post, is the code dead and got deleted? It's only $8 for me anyway, which isn't that bad either.

Code still works. I just placed the order. No place to enter code for s&s so you have to choose one-time purchase first, enter the code, go back out and switch to s&s to get the deal.

The promo code doesn't work on crimp connectors.

Do not use these to join wires. The wires need to be mechnically connected together first, which is impossible with this setup. The solder's only supposed to fill the gaps and keep them joined, not take mechanical stress and also serve as the main conductor
