If I buy iPhone 12 for $150 and downgrade the plan to the cheapest one ($15/month or $100 for one year plan), still the phone can be unlocked after 12 months of service?

No, it doesn't come with an SD card but you can buy one on Amazon. I'd recommend Samsung SD card.

A dealer will require you to purchase a plan and activate. In another thread, one dealer said the cheapest plans the dealers have is the $40/month plan (but I have no personal experience).

Yes. Basically prepaid carriers (I am a Boost dealer) have a lot of fraud and people that make a business of bouncing between companies. So, ID verification will attempt to cut down on fraud as well as notice if a person is porting in every three or four months and jumping ship the next.

These phones are not cheap for neither the company or us as dealers. The only way the company makes money is by not only attracting customers but by also keeping customers. So, the people that buy 4 iPhones at $50 each and then port to Cricket the next month. Then they jump from Cricket to MetroPCS. They sell the "FREE" or cheap iPhone to someone else for a profit after each jump.

Hopefully this will cut down on this. My stores are in a 98.99 Spanish speaking area, and honestly some of our customers won't pass the ID verification. It may hurt our sales, but I hope it will reduce churn.



Customers still have the option of not doing the ID verification, but they won't receive the best pricing on the better phones without it.
