I don't know you or where you live or where you work. I don't need to know. There are good and bad people everywhere.
If you don't want the insurance, don't get it. If you have it and don't want it, cancel it.
If you don't like the plan, change it. Just recognize that some offers are only available with certain plans.
The companies have to make money. If you don't like how they do it, don't do business with them. It is really simple.
But I am sure that you have the business all figured out. You would give away unlocked iPhone 14 Pro Max and have $10 plans for everything completely unlimited. And your company would have no fraudsters taking advantage of that. You would have perfect service all the time.
So, I agree with a lot of what you just said. I don't think that any of the cell phone companies should be getting government subsidies. Raise cash with stock/bonds. Offer the best service that you can at the best price you can while being profitable. Part of that profitability goes to expanding coverage and upgrading as new technology comes out. Like do you remember Comcast getting billions to have high speed internet in many areas that still don't have it? Yeah, why don't they have to give those billions back?
And yes, there is too much greed/profiteering. Add to that some bad policies, maybe some unintended consequences of "we thought it'd be good" policies, and just world events, and you have inflation and a overall mess.
And yes, you should be able to and can take advantage of their offer. That doesn't mean that you should. If you are going in planning to "stick it to the man," you are not a good person. The person working that day may work partly off of commissions which may be based on percentage of people that stay for a few months. So, you just stuck it to Maria that is working two jobs to be able to afford the rent that is too damn high. You just stuck it to John who owns the store. You know him. He went to school with you. Good guy. Was always nice to everyone. But he may have to close his store and let the employees go because the business isn't profitable anymore.
That's ok though. You got yours.
There must be some crazy local taxes or something else.
$50 + Tax + $35 activation on primary line + $67 (that is the highest plan with insurance)
Where I am, that totals to basically $156
Just spitballing here, but your other option is to help slickdealers commit fraud ? Then burn down the store for insurance money
SlickScum --> SlickFam --> Slick-Mafia.

Excuse me for not understanding why you give a h00t about the true corpo-scum, boostmobile who's exploiting you and exploiting your customers THROUGH you.
Oh, I have NO delusions that Boost is my friend. I am disposable to them. If they could transfer more of the sales that we do to online, they would.
Their goal (and every other company's as well) is to charge the customers as much as possible for as little as possible without running them off, while at the same time paying dealers as little as possible without them bailing as well.
That is how I see Boost. I recognize the Beast. Does anyone think that Verizon or T-Mo is any different? I know how important I am to them. Mongo only pawn in game of life.
You are almost funny and insightful. I definitely don't have any $50 plastic cases. I think that the markup on cases is crazy. Part of that is because we have to buy so many different kinds and colors for each model, then end up disposing of many after the model is discontinued and we can't sell those cases.
We have a Metro store a couple of spaces down from us. They charge something like $30 for a screen protector. Yes, $30 That is crazy. We charge $10. I think that is fair.
The case that Boost (or Ondigo who was the main accessory supplier) suggests sell for $25, it is a silicone interior with a plastic outer shell. We sell for $17 or $20 depending on the model, but I include the screen protector with that. I am sure that we could make more if I priced more like other places. I just don't think that some piece of plastic around your phone is worth $50.
I never require that anyone get insurance in order to purchase a phone. I know that some stores do.
FCC fees. We don't have those here, but if we did that would be government mandated. Not a Boost decision or mine. I guess you know what the F in FCC stands for.
And what extra fees do we have? I'll give you the activation fee is BS. They do that to pass paying the dealer off to the customer. But without that, we would have to close. So, you can either have customers pay it, or the companies raise prices on things, and the customer pays it. You choose. Would you rather have the customer or the customer pay it?
And as for other fees/junk, I try to help people out. For example, if I am processing a payment and notice that the customers bill is $52.99, I know that they signed up for something that they probably did not want. So, I check their account before processing the payment. Almost always they clicked OK on something to simply get it off of the screen not realizing that they agreed to some service. Is it slimy of the companies to do that? Yes. I just try to do my part by taking it off before they profit from it.
You may think that I am defending Boost, cell phones companies, or corporations. I am not. I am defending my honor. I live by the code, "Do what's right." Sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it is costly. But do it.
I drill this into anyone that we hire. We never want to lie to a person to sell something. It is never worth it.
This is what I tell them, "You can get a phone from us, from Cricket, from Metro, or the Boost down the street. They are all the same. You can make calls, send texts, browse the web, and watch videos on any of them. The ONLY thing that we can do different is treat people better."
You won't be able to move down to the $15 plan on this though.
If you are porting a number, it is possible that you could find a renewed iPhone Xr for $20 plus month and activation. But for the cost difference of $30, I would look for the new iPhone 11 deal.
If you keep the service or not after getting it, that is your decision.
Otherwise, look for a cheap used unlocked iPhone.

i worked at Metro CSR, what carriers are good for porting to boost? dont remember the MVNO but at the very least its 50 for the device plus either the 10usd per month 120 in a year package or 50 + the rate plan 50/60 a month, plus taxes AND activation which may be 15/20/30 depending on how scummy dealers are, plus a keychain, case or a $20 dollar shit they may want to add.
man i just want a good wifi phone im still using OG Iphone se from 2018 / 32gb version, but device itself its 2016 i think lmao
