Same level of difficulty as installing a regular light switch. You should know some basics on electrical wiring and light switch installs before attempting though. Just watch some Youtube videos. Replacing a 3-way or 4-way switch is different with this particular model though--basically you are changing the 3-way/4-way back to a single-pole configuration and then installing a Lutron remote where the other light switches would go.


There is a newer version of the Lutron Caseta switch that look much nicer as a rocker switch. The new model also supports your existing 3-way light switches so you don't need to replace the secondary light switch with a Lutron remote. This older style is fine but I never like the look or feel of it. I have both styles and I'm replacing most of my switches with the new style.

Also note that you need a Lutron hub to control these switches remotely. You may be better off buying the bundle and then buying extra switches like this deal.

This smart light is slightly easier to install than any other smart switch since they don't require a neutral wire and that was the reason I got into using this Lurton instead of other brands(Kasa, etc..) that require a neutral wire to be hooked up, otherwise, none are challenging to install, a few YouTube videos and you'll be a pro.

But it requires expensive hub to function as smart dimmer, right?
