Haha, same here. I've used it twice but I'm sure it's still got plenty of life left so I'm going to resist buying more.😆
If u have a need for a smaller drill bit then the extension wouldn't be as useful

I would think an auger bit would work way better, spades don't really extract chips well in downward drilling applications
True. Drilled about 15 holes through timbers using one of these last fall. Even though it isn't the best at exhausting chips it worked out fine. The most difficult part was pulling it back out of the hole.
Per a comment on the extension, you need a half inch or larger in order for the extension to fit through the hole. But, this item is 5/8... so, this item would not be needed if you buy the extension, along with any other bits you own over 1/2".
I have not even open mine yet... Guess I should not buy another one. Too bad the 1/4 one is not on sale.
