I always laugh when I see slow on the SSDs. I guess I'm an old fart that grew up on floppies and found even first gen SSDs amazing fast compared to regular HDD. I get that it may be not instant but again 2TB for $80, would need to have big performance impacts to irritate me.
"Slower" is a relative term. Speed difference will not be noticeable in virtually all real-world applications.
Exactly. My old 4GB EIDE drive would like to have a word.

Anyone know how large the SLC cache is? Can't seem to find any info online. The 512GB model seems to have 25GB SLC, so my best guess is this one has around ~100GB?

Looking for a drive to put in my Sabrent NVME enclosure to use as an external drive, and this seems to be better than the 2TB Intel 670p at the same price. TLC vs. QLC, and 1,000 TBW vs. 740 TBW.

I've had the 512GB version of this in my NAS for a year and it's held up fine.

I think I'll get this 2TB to pop into an enclosure and offload GoPro videos while we're on vacation in Hawaii. When we get back I can put it in my desktop for extra storage.

Now there is multiple offerings at $80 mark for 2TB nvme drives but prices seem to settle a bit. I wonder if they will drop further, getting less hopeful since I heard Samsung halted ssd and dram production due to it being unprofitable at current climate of surplus.

Not apples to apples, but all of this old timer talk reminds me of when I paid $50 for a 32mb Flash Memory Card from Best Buy to use in my Creative Nomad II MP3 player back in the day.

I'm with you on this. Unless you do professional work where you really are throughout limited, you aren't going to notice the difference these days. I remember being one of the first people with a 16GB SSD for my boot drive and my friends being mind blown by my sub minute boot speeds. Good times.

WD blue on sale for the same price is a better option in my opinion.

Can you recommend a good enclosure?

I picked this one up, aluminum for heat dissipation and durability.

Pro seems to have TBM >1000TB whereas the posted deal doesn't. Didn't check if those numbers are just hidden.

Also, depending on what you are doing with the drive (boot vs storage), your warranty may expire before TBW or Wipe count. In that case no need to worry!

Both the Pro and non-Pro advertise 1000 TBW with 5 year warranty.

It just seems like the Pro is slightly faster performance on paper. Not sure if that's due to a change in NAND, controller or firmware.

My new Dell 16 has only one drive slot, so I want to replace it with either this or the Intel 670p. MP33 is TLC, 670p is QLC. But with the exception of TBW, everything else specs in favor of the Intel. My impression is that the Intel is more reliable, but this is TC. Which one should I get? I have lots of music files and don't do a lot of fancy stuff. I'm hoping for something that will last the life of the machine.

No, you are correct. That's a slower Gen 3 model.
1500 MBps = just over 20 mins for the entire 2TB capacity
