Simple to unlock with eBay unlock codes.
The guy I used was "unlocker-pro".
He charges $1.50 per code but I think I offered $1 each for four codes and he accepted my offer.
Search for: "Alcatel LinkZone Modem MW40 MW41 MW43TM BT70 L850V Y800Z Network Unlock Code"
This is the way I remember doing it:
1. Change the SIM with another network provider's SIM.
2. Connect to a PC with a USB cable.
3. Open the WebUI of the Alcatel LinkZone 2.
4. If prompted, log in with the admin.
5. It will prompt for unlock code.
6. Enter the unlock code from eBay
7. Now your Alcatel LinkZone 2 will be unlocked permanently.
.
Just get the unlock code from eBay and follow the instructions to unlock and you're good to go with any SIM, no matter where in the world you're at.
PS: From what I remember if the unit does a firmware update you'll just have to reenter the unlock code again. I printed out my code and put the little piece of paper under the battery in case I ever need it again.
.
Orange/White SIMs use T-Mobile
Black SIMs use AT&T
Boost Mobile (also Ting and Republic Wireless) are owned by DISH Network; but they don't own the underlying telecom infrastructure. So, they end up piggybacking on one of the big3's networks.

Not every SIM is provisioned to work in a hotspot.
Right after I put in unlock code it gives me Invalid SIM card and It does not give me to change any network settings option to play around with APN. Am i screwed? I updated the firmware tp

Am I screwed? I had a bad feeling when I was updating the firmware.

I think you're fine.
I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread that after you update firmware you need to enter your unlock code again.
I printed out a copy of my unlock code and put it under the battery so I'd always have it if needed again.

Was there someone else in this situation? should I cancel the order? or Hotspot will get sent out even if the Cart and Order history don't show it for me?
Please advise

i refuse to walk into a boost, if i cant even send them an email, their employees have to be even stupider and waste my time more.

no wtf how did you get that?
1. Good little device. Perfect size.
2. Boost figures you might just go ahead and keep their service since rather than unlocking, etc. because its one of the better prices for data at (2GB a month for 10 bucks.) My cursory investigation seemed to show that this and the $15 bucks a month for 5 GB were the best prices. If someone wants to point me elsewhere I would loved to try it (T-Mobile)
3. I get 35/2 Gbps from my house. Pretty good.
4. Update the firmware before you unlock.
5. People are asking about the use case, but I have an 11 year with an IPhone with no plan/sim and she only rolls WiFi. Either mom and dad's Verizon phone hot spot or whatever is publicly available. She can put this in her dance bag and have data during dance practice or competition or whenever mom and dad arent around. It will also feed here laptop.
6. Dad works abroad as a programmer sometimes and either has to expense $10 a day to use my Verizon plan and data or buy an esim with unlimited data and use that. It still doesnt feed my laptop and requires me to keep my phone near my laptop. With this I can just buy a pre-paid data sim when I arrive and role.
