Project Farm on YouTube did a deep dive regular/high capacity/high output.

Pretty much all of the brands had the same outcome. Almost no difference in extra battery performance unless you were using them in freezing conditions.

It's the same capacity, but with higher output via an extra prong to the HP line of tools that are made for it. If you actually have and use such HP tools and find that you actually need that extra bit of cutting/driving/etc. speed, it's probably worthwhile. Otherwise, it'll make absolutely no difference in non-HP tools.
Actually there's a HUGE difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke taste/formula. That's not marketing just to appeal to men.

Can anyone comment on whether the High Performance is worth the difference? It's hard to tell from reading the marketing spin.

I have the sliding miter that can benefit from the hp battery. I do notice I slight different vs the same ah regular battery. On tools that don't have the extra hp prong, I notice no difference.....it all just depends on what tools you have.

For those who have HP tools and considering the HP batteries, please realize not all HP tools need HP batteries. Not all HP tools have the contacts to utilize the extra amperage. For example my compact HP impact driver doesn't have the necessary prongs

Is this a good deal? Saw the Direct Tools Factory Outlet deal as well, both seem tempting

Extra prong is not for power delivery. It's a communication line. Supposedly to tell the tool it's "ok" to pull more power.

However there are HP tools that don't have the prongs so yeah…

Reality…. Batteries are batteries, an HP battery is not gonna magically go from 18v to 20v when attached to a HP tool. In all likelihood HP batteries probably have a different chemistry that holds voltage better under load.

98% marketing gimmick… but then I like Coke Zero(black can, doesn't use the word diet) meant to appeal to men.

Yep. Will work just as well as a non-HP battery of equivalent capacity.

$10/ah for Ryobi is pretty much a standard great deal you'll find here and there. It's still a good deal nevertheless. $7.5/ah is slick.
For high performance batteries, try aiming for $10/ah

A little bit big, but for ya power hungry folks.

Coke zero uses a different artificial sweetener than diet btw, the difference isn't just marketing. I prefer the taste of zero

For me personally I don't start looking at buying regular batteries until the hit $6.25/ aH. That usually comes in the form of a 2 pack 4aH for $50 as a part of a buy x get y deal.

18 volts is 20 volts and vice-versa (in drill/power tools)
HP/HO batteries are more about amperage than voltage.

and correct, that is marketing only, that's why Ryobi never went to 20 volt packaging.

This is an ok deal but the fan with the 2x battery and charger for $100 at Home Depot was better imo.
