Ooma Telo Air 2 VoIP $80

This is the air 2 version that has built in wireless so its a few dollars more then the non-wireless version.

if you want to port your current number in it a one time fee of $40. not exactly cheap as other carriers do it for free, but you only pay your local state taxes monthly/yearly and 911 is included.

google voice support for regular customers will be ending later this year, but it will still be available for businesses. at this time there is no way to directly port a regular number over to a business number.

i am a grandfathered ooma customer still with the original ooma hub (i.e. no fees). paid $180 for it yearsss back and definitely got my monies worth out of it. so was thinking about porting out my regular google number over to a new ooma (state monthly fees about $5) and free 911 service.

So the answer is NO.
This tells me Google Voice is not going away and my number is safe.
Am I missing something here??

I don't think you're missing anything, for the way many (most) use Google Voice. What's definitely going away is GV support for the Obi VoIP phone adapters that many folks are using, so the Ooma may be a good solution.

For context on the going away discussion, the OPs initial post did not include "support" in the post.

I have the same $180 free and use it daily. My only complaint is that the line connection isn't as stable as my callcentric voip. I'll often have to redial to get a good connection, also dropouts and delays.

Does Ooma telo air give any sort of priority connection over the free for life one?

I would. How much is the fee?

Also, can you reinstate service with it later at the same fee?

while i dont use it daily, for the most part it works. once in a while a call wont go thru the first time. im sure they downgraded the resources for the few of use that still have and use it.

The newer ones use a better protocol for the connection and sound.

the fee depends upon which state you live in and ranges from about $3-5 a month for taxes.

as long as its not the grandfathered ooma hub/scout you should be able to re-instate it, but there might be a hefty fee vs. just purchasing a new one.

We want WiFi VOIP.

Why don't they just add two (2) RJ11 port to ALL computers and be done with it ? USB to RJ11 adapters work too.

apologies for late reply.
I was paying 17.99
They offered to reduce the price on ecit, so probably can get it lower. This was California rate whete they add a ton of fees
