Opposite experience for me. They replaced two original floodlight cameras for me with very little hassle. Then sent me Floodlight plus cameras as replacements..

Does anyone use this for their mailbox to know when mail was delivered? Or is there a better/cheaper solution for that?

How you guys like the ring alarm? Had nest - loved it but discontinued and cutting service next year. Tried abode - no thanks. Now between ring and Simplesafe.
I have both ring and simplisafe. My main gripe about ring is when you arm but you have the door open it only asks you to bypass the opened door. It can't auto secure it after you close the door but simplisafe does do that. Simplisafe warns you that it's open but will arm that sensor once it is closed. Ring is certainly cheaper annually. The ring app is more finicky than simplisafe. Sometimes I have to close the entire app so that it would reload itself.

hmm, may be it is different in case of scheduling. I have mine arm/disarm on time schedule, it does arm the system if a door or window is open. My main gripe is that it does not send a notification on phone app for that.

I'm not sure if your definition of arm matches what I am describing. My system does arm but it asks me if I want to bypass the sensor that is open to continue arming the system. If I bypass it then that sensor doesn't trigger the alarm when opened.

Simplisafe warns me that it is opened but it will trigger the alarm once the sensor is closed and armed with the system if it is closed when the countdown finishes.

Does replacing the Ring - Alarm Base Station Gen 2 with Ring - Alarm Pro Base Station or vice versa require re-mapping all connected ring devices/accessories?

I would imagine so. It's basically a new install.

Sounds like you would benefit from adding a Hubitat to your system.

There's enough customization to do things like allow you to arm both systems at the same time and delay arming if a sensor is open.

I do have a hubitat but not sure if I can hook it up to my Ring alarm without a bridge of some sort.

Are you doing it manually by app or keypad? I was talking about auto arming it on a time schedule.

If your system supports ZWave, you can use the Ring sensors or any other sensor that is ZWave compatible.

Having a central hub like SmartThings, Hubitat, or Home Assistant helps tremendously, since you can run multiple protocols and tie them all together.

Otherwise, you can get WiFi enabled contact sensors. Though keep in mind that most are web based, so they might have delays.

I see, I don't have a "system" at this point, I guess I'll have to look into that. I have blink, wyze, and eufy cameras, and the blink and eufy cameras have base stations, but I guess theyre not systems for this purpose.

I did a quick search and it looks like Eufy is a proprietary protocol and Blink is pure WiFi. Wyze is also pure WiFi.

There are ways to get some level of cohesion between them, but you do gain some redundancy by using multiple cloud services instead.

The WiFi sensors are pretty cheap, but I can't speak for their reliability: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKT1RBW4
