Why does the deal alert system need this?

So I've been having a lot of problems with notifications. I'd constantly see a front page deal for the same keyword and yet no alert in my inbox.
I finally got fed up with it and decided to google some things. I think I may have found the answer.
Unless this info is outdated, but apparently the keywords are case sensitive???
This really blew my mind, because not for a second did I consider that someone would see a good reason for turning something so simple into something so convoluted.
Why in the world should it matter which case is being used since the actual meaning is never affected by it?
Can you think of a scenario where "3d printer" is not the same thing as "3D Printer" or "3D printer" or "3d Printer" or "3D PRINTER" or "3d PRINTER"?
Am I supposed to include every possible variation of capitalization when creating an alert or else I won't receive it?
Can anyone guess in how many ways you can write something like "The North Face women's summit series wind jacket"?
Can we please do the most sane thing here and remove the case-sensitivity?
If not for our sanity, then can you do it for your bottom line? Each deal that a Slickdeals member misses means less money in your pocket.

I just searched through my email alerts from Slickdeals and there are plenty of examples where the letter cases don't match, because you can see towards the bottom which of your alerts has triggered that notification.
I was also able to solve the mystery of some of the missing alerts:
Sometimes they come in a few days before I stumble upon that same deal while browsing Slickdeals. I'm probably thinking that I'm looking at a brand new deal not realizing that I've already dismissed it because I wasn't as interested in it at the time.
I'm still not sure if this explanation covers all of it, because I'm 100% sure that sometimes I don't get the alerts, so I'll start paying closer attention in case there really is a bug.

Some things that work in search work in deal alerts, and some don't. And there is no way to know other than waiting a few days and seeing if stuff you want is alerting or not.
So if you are using a wildcard or triggering on only part of a word, it will not trigger an alert.
