It turns out I should be the one apologizing. I just looked at the Lowes site and it seems the 18v promo that had been running for the past 2 years has been discontinued in favor of a Buy More. Save More promo. Hopefully the free battery promo comes back at some point.

I have been a huge fan of the 12v line for years. I have their drill driver, 1/4" bit driver, and 1/4" impact bit driver. The impact driver will drive a screw through time. It hits well above its weight class, and is my go-to over my full sized Ryobi 18v & Craftsman 24v due to it's power + convenient size. I'm willing to bet the 3/8" impact is the same, and would be great for every day mechanical work.

That brings me to my latest purchase - the 12v router. The poor thing is SO weak. I can literally hold the spindle with my fingers and stall the motor. Trying it on wood with a small bit, it stalled every 3-4 inches. This makes me leary of any of their rotating tools, such as that rotary tool, and second guessing the jigsaw and others.

TLDR, impact drivers are great. Spinny tools are sus, IMO.

This deal is nearly constantly running with a rotating selection of eligible tools. There are also deals for 18v, including a few Profactor, both of which include the upgraded CORE flavor of battery.

Edit: disregard, the 18v promo is not active for the time being.

that's a pricey battery and charger combo, and pricey (compared with dewalt/milwaukee) tools.

perhaps mention '12v' and '2ah' somewhere ...?

No apology necessary. It hasn't been posted in a while so I'm sure there are many unaware of the promo. The 18v line definitely has the best bang for the buck.

Good to know. I wonder how the router would do at beveling softwood.

I tried it out doing a 1/8 round on 2x6 pine - which is pretty much already rounded over. It was just to be a cleanup of the edge. Maybe i got a defective product?

Hope that can provide some insight.

I've never understood the point of that 12v Bosch router, 18v seems like the much better choice for a cordless router. I love my Dewalt and I'm sure the Makita is a great option too.
