Sign ups are live. In the wallet app, select your Apple Card, go to the top right menu and hit Apple Cash, and change redemption to savings. Enter your social and you're done.

The account is backed by Goldman Sachs - a bank.

That's incorrect. You can preapply (soft inquiry) and without a hard inquiry and they will tell you if they will likely approve you or not but when you actually apply it is a hard inquiry just like with any other credit card.
Not if you freeze your credit report before you hit apply. I got the credit card without taking a hit

So savings account is tied with an OS? If we don't upgrade iOS then we can't access the account? Lol
Well ideally there's a way to access the account thru the web, but I have no idea if that's possible. There are web sites for Apple Music and Apple TV+, so maybe there's one for Apple Card / Savings account.

Edit - Did a quick search and found the website... https://card.apple.com

YMMV but I think I remember a trick people were doing where if you go through the initial check where they give you an offer, then freeze your credit and click accept, Apple will open the account and they won't do a hard credit pull because they can't. But again, ymmv. Look it up first also because I might have gotten details wrong.
HAHA! that is what I did LOL. I just got accepted for 15k on my apple card. They use TransUnion BTW. If you lock it before accepting the offer you won't get the Hard pull. HOWEVER, now that I have the card I DON'T see the option to open the saving account like other peoples have reported. Anyone knows why? Thanks!

the question is , is the savings rate locked in or Apple would change it to 1% after they meet their numbers?
It's going to follow whatever happens on the federal level. It won't drop to 1% if every other HYSA stay at 3-5%.

That's not too far off. You need Apple Pay to use it, and Apple Pay only works on certain versions of iOS.
There's a website to manage Apple Card... https://card.apple.com

No idea if one can sign up for Savings account thru there too since I don't have Apple Card. Maybe someone else can check.

The credit bureau freeze hack apparently still works. Which is funny since every reputable bank wouldn't allow you to open a card without running a hard credit check. Goldman is just using what they learned during the subprime mortgages era and applying it to credit cards. Kinda ridiculous.
