No need to buy such an expensive watch just to track small children. Just buy an airtag and a watch bracelet airtag holder made for kids. They sell them on Amazon
I just wanted to use this as an airtag for tracking my small children. Do u need the cellular version for that or will GPS version operate like an airtag?
Neither iphone or apple watch work like airtag….u need internet via cellular or wifi to get location

As far as I know iPhone 11 and up actually can work like an Airtag. That was a new feature introduced in iOS 15. When they run out of power they can still be found through the Find My network like an Airtag.
My last iPhone was iPhone 4 i think lol, currently using Samsung android. But I want to use an Apple Watch mainly for fitness tracking. Would it be possible to setup watch under a family members iPhone/ account and just use the watch myself separately. I have an iPad but I know setup won't work with it.

Find My has been built into iPhones and Apple Watches for a while. They do indeed essentially act like AirTags and did so before AirTags existed. Other Apple devices help to pinpoint their location. Internet is not required on the device you're trying to find.
I know it's a way different price point but thinking of either this or 31mm stainless 7 for $399 at Walmart, fiancé and I are both nurses so the added durability of SS might be worth the extra $

You need the cellular version.
Right now Verizon is offering the gen 2 se for $150 off the usual $299 price tag with service running $10/month.

I feel like at this price it's more disposable. Buy it and learn what you are or are not missing and fill any gaps in a few years when you are at the next upgrade cycle.
I bought this watch when it was near the same price for Black Friday to replace a 3 with a cracked screen and am still very happy with it.

I have the Series 6 SS just know that it is noticeably heavier than the aluminum version.

Any idea if this version tracks swimming workouts?
It should, but even if it does without the Always On Display I find it to be worthless while viewing in swim metrics after swim workout data is amazing with the latest Watch OS a huge upgrade but I do not believe this watch can run the new OS.
My ancient fit bit finally gave up on me, would this be a good replacement for fitness/workout tracking. Not interested in any other features (don't even own an Iphone). Just want something that can reliably track my workouts.

Without the iphone the data you can pull from it is minimal at best. With the iphone Fitness and Health Apps there is so much more data, charts, graphs and details that you can use to track and enhance your goals.

Garmin would be better for workouts and notifications. Longer battery life and much more metrics for workouts.

I own this watch and it's held up great. Still gets new updates all the time as well. I have had mine just a little over a year. For myself, I haven't seen a reason to upgrade.
Good deal if you don't mind not having the newest version.
are you able to do the ekg feature? ty.
