How many people work on airplanes? Just my company at my location..about 1000 people. Just my company world wide..about 15K people. Airplanes mechanics in the US including all companies...125K. Every airlines worldwide...250K or more mechanics. Now that's only airplane mechanics...other mechanics who use SAE Tools?...Locomotive, Ships, Boats, heavy equipments such as tractors, cranes, Etc. So yeah "rare use" LMAOLMAO

You're one person that doesn't use SAE, so they are a very rare use to everyone else? What about mechanic that work on older cars? The industrial condenser they just installed at my job is SAE. So I would guess people in that industry have a use for SAE as well.

To be fair, a lot of SAE sockets have metric substitutes. I would avoid SAE as much as possible because of precision limits and unnecessary conversion complicacy. By the way, the shipbuilding, aerospace, and aviation in Europe and the rest of the world all use metric.

When did this European conversion take place, because the French and German boats I've worked on lately were SAE.

To be fair..we never said everything is SAE. I use both metric and SAE for my job. Boeing uses SAE while Airbus, Embraer, etc. use Metric. Many heavy equipment in the US use SAE. There's a reason why these tool companies offer both in their sets. But some people who thinks there is no uses for SAE are wrong.

A good chunk of my personal projects end up being all SAE fasteners. Local hardware stores still put a pretty good markup on Metric fasteners compared to their SAE counterparts. I'll save the money every time I can.

The combo mentioned was for the 3/8" not this set that's 1/2"

Any combo deal or way to make this 1/2" set a better deal?

I would rather have a good quality tool set than not have it at all even if it's not used as much as another.
