Why is the capacity always listed and not HP? In my opinion, capacity is never an issue. If you have multiple gallons of dirt, you'll wanna use a shovel first. If it's liquid, you're gonna have a hard time moving 6 gallons of it without it spilling. So really, what IS the point of larger capacity? It just takes up more room in the 99.9% of the time that being stored somewhere in your home is it's actual job.

I had a 2HP Craftsman for years, cleaning out garage and cars. I thought it was plenty but I've never had a smaller wet/dry vac with more HP. I think 4HP for this size is overkill personally. Bigger hose needs more power.

It's useful to know for applications where you'll be using it day in and day out. Like woodworking. So you get an idea of how often you'll be changing it out.

This is probably the same DeWalt wet/dry vacuum I have and if it is then it is very quiet. It is powerful enough for me.

Two of the four 1-star reviews are near duplicates. Those and a third review complain it does not work with other tools. I don't understand that problem. The fourth complains that there are inadequate instructions. Some of the 2-star reviews use the same phrases as some 1-star reviews.

Lowes has the 5HP 9 Gallon model for 100. I would think the extra power and the 3 gallon extra capacity would be worth the 35 bucks and easier returns.
