Except for the literal MILLIONS of devices and accessories that still use Lightning. Just because Apple will finally be adding USB-C to the 15 series later this year, doesn't mean everyone will immediately upgrade to it. All models of Airpods and iPhones still use Lightning to charge as of now.
But iPhones with lightning port still have few years lifespan.

Dude at $2 for a 6-ft braided cable…the day it stops charging is when you really get your money's worth. Kinda like a broken escalator, it just becomes stairs. You could use it to bundle up things like Christmas lights, perhaps a makeshift belt for the weekend, or if your attic door pull string ever needs replacing, or maybe just practicing your fisherman's knot. Time to stock up on these, America.

How do you get that? They are MFi certified.

I come from Android, where if a USB-c cable is called a charging cable as opposed to charging/data cable then they don't have the throughput to do Android Auto. My daughter has iphone so I don't know enough about these cables.

USB-C to lightning will still sell, but USB-A one might not as users upgrade their iPad, MacBook etc

So I have an iPad from around 2019, I've tried new cables and it won't charge unless I bend the cable at a certain angle until it detects. I've cleaned out charging port and tried the trick of putting a piece of tape in it, but didn't completely work

Lightning is lightning. Whether it is usb-c or usb-a is determined by the charger you use. People will eventually upgrade their phones as well as their laptops but it is not going to happen overnight. SD community may be quicker to upgrade their devices because of the good deals posted but in reality there are millions of people still rocking their iphone x or even iphone 8 and they use a charger with a USB-A port.

My daughter's car has a USB-a port and it's the only way to get Carplay. She will be keeping that car for probably another 7+ years.

For 2 dollars we shouldn't be thinking about the demise of lightning and just buy it if you need it. It's not like you can stock up and buy more than 1 at this price anyways.
