I bought this receiver at retail price when it came out 2 yrs ago after months of wait. The receiver is pretty good and sounds great with speakers I have.
Last year, it stopped detecting network and no Bluetooth connectivity, and later all menu options stopped working.
I called tech support, they asked me to ship the receiver to nearest Onkyo service center which is 200 miles away. I paid about $50 to ship it. They said that parts need to be replaced which would come from Japan. It took them over 4 months to fix it.
Since then it's been ok, but such horrible customer service for a $1500 machine was not acceptable. I don't think I will get another Onkyo. The customer service was not helpful at all. My home theater was useless for good 4 months.

Good receiver, but Adorama is known for cutting prices aggressively once they discount receivers. I wouldn't be surprised to see this go down to 799 and even 749. I bought the Pioneer lx505 when it was discounted and within a month or so, there were 2 price cuts. They did give me a price adjustment for the first one, but the second cut happened more than 30 days after my purchase.
Which spec indicates that this would work well with Xbox/PS pass through? I have an older denon that I just bypass altogether and put my Xbox direct to TV and I want to make sure there is zero lag.

Where it says 8k/4k. This will pass 8k 60 or 4k 120 Hz.

This receiver has pass through. Or just hook your Xbox up directly to your tv and hook the receiver up via EARC.
This is an incredible price. I have this receiver and it's rock solid. It sounds really good using 5.1 audio via HDMI. My only complaint is that using Bluetooth to play headphones is incredibly complicated. You have to dive within menus. Much easier to just use the Apple TV if you have one.

Hello friends, I wonder if Adorama is an authorized dealer, the answer seems concrete but it is NOT listed in Onkyo website: https://onkyo.com/authorized-online-resellers
That means you might not get your receiver covered by Warranty !

I really hope the list is simply not updated and they are authorized. I wonder what is the case for yamaha and denon.
Update: they are authorized for yamaha AVRs. Denon does not let me check their zip code on my phone.

I have been wanting to upgrade to this receiver for a while. Spent $200 more and went thru Safe and Sound HQ. FYI - 0% interest on 18 equal payments, reward $ towards future purchase and authorized dealer with 3 yr Onkyo manufacturing warranty; not 2 years as spec'd by Adorama.
