Have been going back and forth between this and the Denon AVR-X3800H and was about to pull the trigger the RZ50 on Amazon for $999 tonight before I saw this. In for 1, thanks!

Hi does anyone know if this will work for Dolby Atmos 9.1.4?
My setup: (9.1.4)
Front left/right,
Center,
Back left/right.
Front surround left/right,
Back surround left/right,
And four ceiling speakers.
And a Sub

You can do 7.1.4 but not 9.1.4.

You would need 13 channels to do that. This AVR can power up to 9 channels at once. It can do 11 channels with external amplification.

Keep in mind the 3800 has gone down to $899 with many more features.

Measurements have said this has an issue with 4 & 6ohm speakers.

I would add channels 10 & 11 have to be powered externally, can't be assigned.

when will onkyo discontinue this model? it's 3 yrs old.
Probably when there is a good reason to, it's still very popular.

so these inventories represent current manufactures and not adorama overstock.
Doesn't say anything about overstock.

I would point out for the last 3 years Adorama has been holding these deals with very much success.

I was lucky to buy this receiver not long ago from Greentoe for $799. Tax and shipping were included for $799 total. It was my first time buying from them and it was a great experience. The Adorama deal is $799 plus tax. It is still a great deal but I am glad I pulled the trigger thru Greentoe.

I also still see $799, not sure why it is marked expired.

No. you can do 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 so not more than 9 channels; your setup requires 13 channels
