Linus Tech Tips made a video about laptops not properly staying in sleep mode. It basically affects all modern laptops. If I remember correctly it was a windows side issue.

Lenovo laptops do not hibernate like they are supposed to and they go dead in your bag.

It must be. We have two mini PCs that won't wake half the time and I just got a new Lenovo laptop and it won't sleep. It's like 1995 you have to shut it down manually instead of closing it. I have a 2020 LG GRAM laptop without the issue however.

Most Lenovo laptops and nearly all Thinkpads let you configure S3 vs Modern Standby, the former of which avoids the issues Linus documented in his video.
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T490 and a Dell with the sleep mode issue. I either just shutdown or hibernate. It's not like they're 5400rpm drives.
I agree that boot is pretty quick these days.
The problem though is if you're working with like 5+ windows open, it sucks to have to close every one of them to shutdown. That requires remembering which were open before, etc. Even the browser windows. At work, I imagine many people have emails and spreadsheets and browsers open.
Laptops and PCS this year are completely DOA. We are going to see non stop deals all yr. After a few strong yr in the covid timeframe, they appear to be very dead. I think Apple sales dropped 20%.

For the first time in my life I'm considering a MacBook, I don't even have an iPhone.
