amazing price for non heat sink sn850x 1tb

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/...Id=6512131
Does it still need a heat sink to work in a laptop or can I just use it without the heat sink? Thank you.

Yeah. This is a sweet deal. I just checked my local Best Buy and found one store has the last one and ordered it. Even though I'm not sure if I'm going to pick it up or not lol

I got in on the 2tb for $109 deal last month at Amazon. It shipped, and has been great.

Nvme for Plex is stupid. You can get way better bang for the buck with literally anything else.
it's perfect for plex cache … not video storage. large libraries have a lot of thumbnails

Yes, you should be able to as long as you have a PCIE slot. This would fit into a PCIE gen 3 slot even though the drive itself is PCIE gen 4. With a gen 3 slot you will be limited to gent 3 speeds.

I don't have a machine that can utilize the gen 4 speeds, but the drive itself is a good drive and this is a good price, so I might get one to maybe in the future be able to take advantage of the speeds.
How do you know if your computer has Gen 4 capabilities?

Nice deal. Shame I already picked up the SN770 last month
Did you install in a computer, laptop, gaming and did you get a heatsink, I a looking for a heatsink for the SN770 for a small desktop, Recommendation? The Amazon reviews are all over the place.

I also picked up the Samsung 990 that I will need a heatsink for. I purchased that for a new computer build I want to do at some time. It arrives on Friday.

I am using mine in a Plex server, but I do not always use it for Plex only. I also use the plex server to share out family photos and movies with my brother and sisters. I am really new to the plex thing, so I am still figuring out how to organize things and the cover image seems very random and not correct. Currently it has a lot of converted HI 8 family movies and Plex looks it up and provides a cover image and they are not always appropriate.

I picked up one of the small form factor Acer refurb machines for the server (from slickdeals), added a memory stick but wanted more than 256 on the C: drive. These 1TB drives are really cheap now. So fantastic deal.

I believe the 850 is even faster than the 770 and has DRAM.
