For those not familiar with Macs: This is the same machine as the Costco $1599 deal (and BestBuy $1599 deal) but instead of 8C/14CGPU/512GB, you get 8C/14C/1TB.

At no extra cost.

That's a very worthwhile sale.

Please note the OP's product description is wrong; when you go to the Adorama page, it shows 14cGPU This is the 'standard' 14" MBP 2021 but with a 1TB SSD upgrade.

One of the better deals I've seen so far. I'll still be holding out for the 10 core processor though.

Code also gives $150 off on the newer 14 M2 pro 12cpu 19gpu 1tb, when added apple care the code went to $210 off. A little cheaper than Costco, around $50 with apple care. Not impulse buy worthy but if you're buying one anyway the little bit off is nice.

Interesting to see that this 1TB is $1799 (before coupon) but the same model with only $512GB SDD is $2099

Nah. The M1 Pro is technically one generation out (they have the M2 Pro and M2 Max machines out) so the older M1 Pro machines are being discounted.
They're having trouble indeed, to a point that they discontinued the M2 you're talking about!

Performance wise I don't think there is really any reason to upgrade to the m2 version. The only reason I am holding back on the m1 is because this is a 2021 year model, vs m2 being 2023. I don't think there is a way to know for sure, but apple can be jerks around os upgrades with planned obsolescence.

I have a top specced 2016 MBP that was 3k, and apple has decided to stop providing macOS upgrades for it, despite the fact that it has 4x the amount of ram than the base MBA. I know the M1 CPU beats the Intel, but it's still 100% capable of running Ventura. It's pretty sad that I only got 5 major macOS versions on this still capable hardware. This is literally the only reason I am looking to upgrade.

Then you should download OpenCore Legacy Patcher, run that, and then upgrade to Ventura. I wouldn't use it for professional, production use, but it will fully address your concern.

Yeah, I'm aware of OCLP, I'll probably install it eventually, but need to free up or purchase another USB flash drive for it.

APINSIDER code is from the Apple-focused website AppleInsider.com. They frequently have deals at Adorama with code APINSIDER.

What a ridiculous article. Who wrote that? If you read past the click-bait headline, it says "Apple has temporarily halted the production of the M2 series for two months". Discontinued is not the same as temporarily halting production to reduce inventory.

I can get a 12 core CPU laptop with 2.5K resolution screen for $600 brand new. Idk why people would spend 1k extra for an apple logo.
I would have argued with you in 2015. My mid-2015 15" MBPro is still my daily driver. But now, I have zero interest in Tim Apple's soldered-everything unrepairable e-waste.

Oh, and I have cheapo Acer refurb for when I want to play solitaire.

Welcome to the Wonderful Accelerated Planned Obsolescence World of Tim Apple.

And congratulations on being the only owner of a 2016 Tim Cook MBPro that hasn't failed. LMAO

FYI, I'm still running Mojave on my 2015. The combo is like a light switch: it just works. And is repairable, unlike today's iterations.

I guess you didnt see the headlines a few days back where their laptop sales are down 40% and they are not making anymore m2? Perhaps the m3 is on the horizon but I would say 40% decline is not that good even if it was from the bubble they arent flying off the shelves.

I got the deal on the m1 pro months back so this isnt anything special...1tb is legit finally. Nice machine tho.
