I have this and it's a beast. The chain it comes with is really good, the bar is solid, and it doesn't leak.

I'm thinking about buying another so I can go akimbo on my logs
Dual wield FTW!

While I agree that this is a beast, I don't agree with the doesn't leak part... Just yesterday, I moved mine (after it sitting upright, in the same spot for about 6 months)and turned it sideways as I did so- leaked all over the place!

Battery powered chainsaw? Now I've seen it all, lol.
I just dropped a 50ft fir last week with my 14" Ego battery chainsaw. And chopped it to 1ft long pieces. All on one battery charge. No way I would be purchasing a gas chainsaw!

According to this site they are pretty close to each other so probably depends on what battery system you use. https://www.techgearlab.com/topic...y-chainsaw
Crazy they are able to get that performance out of a single 18V battery.

Would have thought they'd have to go to dual-battery like on their big blowers or mowers (or go to a higher voltage 40/56/80v system) to compete on a 16" chainsaw.

They accept PayPal, and the payment goes to toolup.com so its probably just a rebrand under the same company so you can browse Milwaukee only tools.

Cool toolup.com is one of the online sites Milwaukee suggests buying from.

Every year I cut, split and burn 6-8 cords of firewood.

Most of that gets cut with a gas-powered Husqvarna with a 24" bar - but this little Milwaukee does a tremendous job of assisting.

Besides limbing and marking my firewood, I've also used it for cleaning up damage after a wind storm, maintaining hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails and limbing standing pine trees for fire prevention.

It works well enough that earlier this year, I sold my small 16" gas-powered Stihl. The Milwaukee feels as (or more) powerful than my little Stihl and is much easier to use.

I'd say that for most things you're going to do with a small saw like this, this battery-powered Milwaukee is going to be better in nearly every way than a gas equivalent. Especially if you're already invested in Milwaukee's ecosystem and have a good amount of batteries laying around.

My only complaint is that it's nearly as heavy and bulky as the small Stihl gas powered saw it replaced. That's fine for most stuff around our property or near a vehicle, but when I'm hiking or biking a decent distance to do trail maintenance, I'm jealous of my friend's 12" DeWalt chainsaw.

If that's relevant to you, you may want to wait for Milwaukee's upcoming smaller 12" top-handle chainsaw [milwaukeetool.com], which I expect I'll be tempted by.

That's pretty awesome and very impressive. I've used gas chainsaws for years and helped build a log cabin with one a long time ago, so tough for me to go this route when my two Stihls still run great.
