Mountain House freeze dried backpacking / camping meals 20% off, free shipping

I am not sure exactly what is on sale; I was just looking for the curry chicken and all the pouches and some of the larger kits are 20% off. The kits can be found at discount (like Costco) but I have never seen the individual pouch meals on sale before. Nice chance to try the flavors WM, Dicks and REI don't have.

Why? Super convenient and super light weight. The point is backpacking. They cost way too much for most other use. (~$10/meal) They have a crazy long shelf life.
How do they taste? Some are better than others but this (and Peak Refuel) are expensive and generally taste good. I actually *like* the beef stroganoff but it is not Mom's cooking. https://youtu.be/1BnUykjVFrE

You'll need a long spoon to stir and eat them: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5763454

Mountain House is good but I think Peak Refuel is better. Keep in mind an average MH pouch is around 500 calories while a Peak refuel pouch can be over 1000 cal. I can get the Peak Refuel on sale or with promo codes down to about $10-$11 a pouch. Retail price is $13.99. One downside to PR though is many of the meals taste very similar...like creamy and homestyle taste. Their Biscuits and Gravy is hands down my favorite freeze dried food of all time though. I also like Chicken Coconut Curry and Beef Marinara Pasta from PR.

Deal is mediocre, REI with discount for multiple or Amazon with some sub n save are pretty close to same pricing here.

These are terrible. I have like 20 I will probably never eat after buying costco packs.

If you're using them for backpacking and not emergencies, do yourself an enormous favor and just splurge for Peak Refuel. They are vastly superior in every way.

Except shelf life. 5 years vs 30 is a big difference. I agree they taste good but the chicken is always crunchy, never rehydrates.

Check Marketplace and Offer up. I have gotten these for $2.00-3.00 each with 20 years of shelf life left in the original container. Walmart had these marked down to $3.50-4.00 a few weeks ago but it was out of stock by the time I found out.

Peak Refuel is pretty good but I prefer Mountain House more. Plus, Peak Refuel is much more expensive and rarely has big sales.
It's always on sale at your local Sierra. Cheaper from a calorie/cost perspective.
