Good deal, not a fan of my 18-35mm f/1.8 cause the focus is unreliable, but I hear this one is better and faster focusing.

Nice range for indoor sports.

I'll probably pass, don't want to sink any more money into crop lenses.

I agree though I haven't had any focus issues with my 18-35 but then again, I mostly use it for astro which involves manually focusing.

This 50-100 is tempting though but I probably shouldn't spend more on crop lenses than I should have. (Time to upgrade to a full frame)

I take it that you own a Nikon. If your going to switch to Mirrorless, nikon 24-70 4 or 24-120 4 will totally bury this lens. So if your thinking about upgrading to a Z camera I would wait. You can buy the 24-70 4 z, all day long for $400. Ive got the 24-70 2.8 z and the 24-70 4 z is way too close performance wise to its big brother.

I think the big difference/value with the Sigma is the fast aperture -- f/1.8 is over 2 stops faster than an F4, and the f/1.8 is where much of the value/benefit of these lenses come from

Amazon is OOS but looks like BestBuy has this one in stock for the same price if anyone wants it. I haven't tried it, and also wouldn't suggest investing much in crop lenses at this point, but for an f/1.8 lens it doesn't seem bad at all

Yeah but 50-100 is pretty much a useless range at any aperture

I guess it really depends what you're shooting. The 50, 85 and 105 lenses are some of my favorites for any portrait work and those are all 1.4 primes. A 50 to 100 would make a nice alternative for that if someone doesn't want to deal with primes

How's an f/4 blow away an f/1.8? It's like f/2.5 equivalent.

It's a good range and aperture for indoor sports. I use an 85 f1.8 and 50 f/1.8.

I'd buy one but don't trust Sigma to AF reliably on my Nikon. I've owned two Sigmas and AF sucks on both. I'd recommend getting the two primes since they are cheaper and work on full frame.
